Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX *UPDATE*

UPDATE 7/10/2019 My husband had surgery on 6/13/2019. They removed his tumor! After chemo, it had shrunk enough to remove, although there was some worry about whether it was stuck to his spine, bladder. Turns out, they had to remove part of his bladder, part of his intestine, and a segment of his co...

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX *UPDATE*

Eeeeeeek! I am so happy! We went to Huntsman for the scan and round 7 of chemo this week. We saw the oncologist the next day (yesterday). He said my husband's tumor has shrunk by half and he is ready for surgery. Now he gets a 4 week break from chemo and surgery consult!!!! He is operable! We know w...

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX *UPDATE 3/25/2019*

So I've read about SCANXIETY on here. My husband finished his 6th round of chemo on Friday. He's gained 10 lbs, looks much healthier, and is able to work out in the yard, build things in his shop. His iron levels have normalized, he's gotten used to his colostemy, he is no longer pale and sunken loo...

Re: Managing erractic mood swings. Is psychologist the answer ?

Anyway, I finally got up on my arse and drag myself to the GP (general practitioner) just yesterday to inquire about the standard procedure of seeking one instead of me randomly looking up at Dr Google for everything. The GP has advised that my best bet is to start with a psychiatrist first as they...

DH Stage 3C started chemo yesterday.

DH had his port placed on Wed and had his first infusion yesterday, sent home with a ball of chemo. They also gave him iron infusion, which I didn't know was a possibility. The iron pills haven't been effective in getting his levels up. No nausea or anything. Can anyone give me ideas on what to expe...

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX *UPDATE*

UPDATE Now that the initial diagnosis has sunk in a bit... Now that we have consulted, gotten scans, gathered opinions, etc. I feel like we have a grasp on the big picture of what my husband is facing. His tumor was staged 3C. It is large, stuck to his pelvis, perhaps affecting his bladder, and not ...

Re: New Member

Hi crazee, I'm also supporting my husband who was 48 at dx. His is a little different, his tumor is large and advanced, we were told it was inoperable due to being fixed to his pelvis structures. He hasn't started chemo yet, will start on 1/10/2018. Good thoughts and hope his response is great.

Re: Heartbroken

Oh, my heart sunk when I read this.

Your mother's story is similar to my husband, only we are just beginning.

Sometimes, I have so much hope, today I just feel like crying.

My heart hurts for you, she wasn't very old. Cancer isn't fair.

Help me decipher these lab comments?!?

The original surgeon did a biopsy after an emergency colostomy due to complete bowel blockage. New surgeon at Huntsman ordered the pathology report and had their pathologist view the slide/cells. Could anyone help explain/decipher this? This is the original cancer diagnosis and I have no idea what i...

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX

Hey Melissa, It's normal to lose weight and generally look bad when going through cancer and its treatment. I was 5'9", 205lbs. and built like a tank before all this started. After my liver resection, I was 145lbs. - and yes, I looked bad, very bad. But now I'm back to almost 180lbs. and feeli...
