Anxiety Is High, Just Had CT Scan, Year and a half out

Well, not sure if I should be worried or not. I feel worried. My mind is telling me to be worried. Just had my year and a half cancer ct scan. I lost 50 lbs between my last ct scan and now. I continue to lose weight. I changed up my diet and have to now remind myself to eat daily. I never get hungry...

Re: How often do you get scanned after treatment?

Mine have been 6 months apart for the first year, then I think they go to once a year for a couple more years. My Oncologist told me that once you make it out of the three year window, your chances for survival skyrocket.

Ileostomy Reversal Surgery Aftermath

Had my surgery three weeks ago. Just wondering from those on here how long it took after surgery to finally gain full functioning of the bowels back. I have had to sleep sitting up on a recliner because laying down makes me feel as if I have to poop, and interrupts my sleep. I am able to tolerate fo...

Question For All Those Who Have Had Illeostomy Reversal Surgery

I am getting told that my colon is too narrow and I will need to have treatment with balloons during colonoscopies to fix it before my reconstructive surgery can be done. Anyone else go through this before surgery?

Re: Upcoming Surgery

I am preparing for my upcoming colon resection on September 23rd (the day before my 48th birthday). I will be having a flexible sigmoidoscopy on Friday the 20th so the colorectal surgeon can get his own measurements/perspective of where my 3cm adenocarcinoma is exactly located. I am writing for adv...

Re: What Helped You Make It Through Folfox Cycles 6-8

Thanks for all the replies. The anti nausea meds that I got are Ondansetron and Prochlorperazine. They gave me Benadryl as well. I am on my pump right now but felt nausea when getting my infusion yesterday. I informed my Doctor but no changes were done to my chemo. I think what has been happening is...

What Helped You Make It Through Folfox Cycles 6-8

I have chemo in the morning and must say, the side effects are definitely cumulative. I feel nauseous just thinking about going in the morning. The headaches are pretty severe and have been waking me up at night. And, the neuropathy is sticking around this time around. Not as intense, but still ther...

Re: Chemo has caught up to me yall

I am blessed to not have experienced the nausea from the chemo. I did the pill form of chemo before surgery and same result there. Never felt sick and my appetite is pretty healthy. In fact, I need to watch what I eat so I don't gain any weight as I am trying to shed a few pounds over this process t...

Re: Ice Pop During Chemo

It’s not permanent. I used to have this when I went outside in the winter for any period of time. I would arrive in a coffee shop and could barely order my coffee. Once you warm up you should be fine. But how did you tolerate eating it in the first place?? Eating has not been so bad besides the ele...

Ice Pop During Chemo

So, I am not perfect and ate an icicle pop on day two of chemo. I am on Folfox. Now I am talking like Mike Tyson. Please, someone tell me this is not permanent.

Temporary Ileostomy and Bowel Movements

The other night I had a small bowel movement. A tiny bit of fecal matter was passed and when I wiped, the paper turned yellow. My wife thinks I should call my surgeon to ensure that it is not a complication, but I looked online and found that since my colon is still intact, it is possible to have a ...

Re: Looking For Help With A Study

Just in case anybody runs into this thread at a later date and finds themselves in a similar situation, I was able to get service connected for cancer. My Oncologist wrote me a strong letter indicating that rectal cancer grows at an average rate of 10 years before it starts showing symptoms. He also...

Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation

Hi everyone, I was hoping to introduce myself and get some feedback (or maybe just encouragement) about my situation. I'm a 38 year old stay at home mom of a 3 and 8 year old, my husband works 12 hour days, 5 days a week. I started noticing blood in my poo probably 6 months ago? Figured it wasn't s...

Re: Ileostomy Care

You mention losing your appetite but what about fluids? With an ileostomy it is really important that you drink more. Try setting up the fluids for a day and see how much you actually get through. Walking is good for body and mind. Keep moving and take care. S I am thirsty constantly so downing flu...

Ileostomy Care

How much waste should be coming out of me 11 days post surgery? I went from having diarrhea and losing too much fluid to now barely putting out 600ml in a 24 hour period. I am to call my Surgeon if it continues this way because according to them, I should have 800-1200ml coming out in a day. I am ea...
