Re: It's back

Hey Gina! Sorry to hear about your recurrence! I am also dealing with 3 mets in my liver that popped up. I lost my hai pump due to the catheter clotting off. Not fun. I am looking at liver transplant as it’s best to get on it early cause it takes awhile. It’s a big process but we have a way to strea...

The Big three at MSK - Kingham, D’angelica, and Jarigan. Also Dr.Fong who is now at City of hope came from MSK and widely regarded as one of the best liver surgeons in the world.

Re: So the news was not good....

I agree with what FightCRC said above. Dr. Kemeny is my doctor as well. When you want to be aggressive she’s the right doctor for that if/when possible. Hopefully you get out to see her soon and she formulates a plan to get you back to shrinking tumors as opposed to only keeping the stable. Good Luc...

Re: Oncologist transition?

Hey Gina. My last chemo was the first week of March so I was done right as things locked down. That’s also the last time I’ve been to NewYork. Can’t say I miss it much :P . I had scans done locally at Condell hospital on June 28th and mailed them myself to Dr.K. I’m supposed To head back for more on...

Re: Oncologist transition?

Hi Gina! I spoke with Dr.M on the phone once when I considered switching to Northwestern for my pump flushes. While she was very nice on the phone with me I have heard she is not the kindest Dr out there from some of her other patients on other groups. Equally, I have seen other patients who loved h...

Re: another HAI pump question and a short rant...

I had 23 tumors in my liver and the HAI pump got me operable. Thank God for Dr.Kemeny and MSK. The pump is a huge commitment but one that is worth it. When I first started this fight the first thing I did was researched other stage 4 patients did to hit NED. The pump was the common denominator in th...

Re: I stand up to use the word cure(d)....

I love the word cured! I just hit NED recently so im still scared as shit that every spasm or muscle twitch is a tumor growing but if I can go a couple years im saying cured as well. Screw cancer!

Re: The last thing I expected at my MSK appt today

First of all, that is amazing news! Im so happy for you and to not have to do any clean up chemo is really awesome. It was really great to meet you and your husband today! I had my fingers and toes crossed that you would get good news. I know when the scan confirmed i was NED I literally cried and I...

Re: HAI PUMP REMOVED

Congratulations!!! I gotta be honest, I never wanna have mine removed. Its the Medtronic too so it has to be serviced more then the Codman and thats a huge inconvenience but this thing literally saved my life and it will be hard for me to part with it when its time.

Re: Memorial Sloan Kettering Hotel Option Question

The Bentley, cheapest to book online. The residence in on East 48th and Lexington is sometimes cheap. As others have mentioned the pod hotels. I would recommend a queen bedroom here though then you have your own bathroom and a little bigger room. I book hotels through my united airlines app and it s...

Re: After HAI

So questions abound. I try not to stress over too much, after all Christmas is around the corner and my wonderful husband had the greatest surgery to get him on track for a long life with his nagging wife :) He has been losing a lot of weight, his appetite after surgery hasn't been at 100% but 4 we...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Its pretty rare to see Dr.Kemeny keep people on maintenance chemo for life when you are declared NED. Her general road map with most people seems to be systemic for 6 months after being declared NED and HAI pump treatments unless the luver enzymes start to climb. If you are NED by way of liver rese...

Re: Pump vs. SIRT

Id go “and did” with the pump first as I believe SIRT can rule you out of being a candidate for the pump but you can do it after the pump from what I have been told. Also the latest data on SIRT isn’t exactly great either. Just my 2 cents.
