Re: HAI Pump Flow Problem

My situation is different but the catheter for my pump is not in the main hepatic artery they usually use as mine is so narrow they couldn’t make it work. Dr.Kingham installed in a different artery which I don’t remember the name of and luckily it still profused to the entire liver.

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Thats good you had very minor affected lymph nodes. I have read studies that say its a positive prognostic indicator. I never had any blood thinners short of those heaprin shots. The pump chemo is easy cause you don’t get side effects from it. They started me on Folfiri this week and let me tell yo...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Well I must be doing well because they want to start the pump chemo TODAY. We were just expecting saline. Glad I had sushi yesterday! Sounds like they only found one affected lymph node, near the colon, which was removed during surgery. Pathology on all the other nodes was negative. I was a bit sur...

There is a doctor named Paul Wright that does HAI pumps at spectrum health in Grand Rapids Michigan. You can try him.

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Surgery went well yesterday, both surgeons are happy. The pump placement went first and sounds like it went flawlessly, with the blue dye flowing to the liver and nowhere else. The colon resection turned out to be a little trickier, they ended up having to remove one ovary. They started me on a ver...

Re: MSK patients with HAI pump - prep for Dr K meeting

My pre surgery test is on the 23 of February and if everything is good it looks like surgery will be the following week. Interesting enough, Dr Kemeny told me the surgeons didn’t feel like i was resectable currently but i was a good candidate for the pump. When i met with Dr.Kingham, my surgeon he ...

Re: MSK patients with HAI pump - prep for Dr K meeting

Done with my consult. It was good if efficient. Dr K knew what we were after and got straight to the point of discussing treatment. I just had chemo Monday; she wants me to do two more rounds (which would bring me to 8 total) and then come back for a scan to determine if I am ready for a resection ...

Re: MSK patients with HAI pump - prep for Dr K meeting

My local (west coast) oncologist had no problem working with Dr. Kemeny. You'll get chemo in the pump every month in NYC, and the other times you'll get saline, which can be injected locally. It was understood in my cancer center that Dr. K would be directing the treatment so they followed her orde...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

I saw the name mentioned and just wanted to say I had a liver resection with Dr. Kingham last month and it went really well. Both he and my onc agreed I wasn’t a good candidate for the pump due to a probable lung met, so I don’t have anything to add about that unfortunately. But surgically in gener...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Thanks, julie! Perhaps the servicing is where the issues with the Medtronic lie. Appreciate the input!!! What Heiders wrote is correct! The surgeon from spectrum Health in Grand Rapids Michigan, his name is Paul Wright cleared up a lot of rumors about the pump. 1 the pump is already FDA approved bu...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

P.S. It's good to know how far out these procedures are being booked there. We are expected to meet with Dr. Kingham before making the decision. I'm surprised at how quickly you got yours scheduled. Thats funny! I just read your message. You wont be one of the first to get the new pump, they have d...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

There are many threads here that address the HAI pump. I am posting on here because it's a relatively recent thread. Many of you already know that the Codman pump, the only pump that had been used for many years for CC-liver, was discontinued this past spring. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/25/hea...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

I have found reading other's journeys helpful, so starting to document my own. I'm just out of the hospital after 5 rounds of FOLFOX + Vectibix gave me typhlitis (swelling of the colon and perforation that allows gas to pass into the abdomen). I spent seven days there under observation - they gave ...

Re: Mixed bag kinda day: progression, genomic results, and trial

Sorry to hear about these results. I posted to you awhile back about that Abbvie trial, My wife works there. I was at MSK when the Duke people were shadowing Dr.Kemeny earlier in the Month. What a small world. Im currently doing 3 rounds of FolFox here in Chicago and going back to MSK on Dec18th to...
