Re: Lung nodules and other lung "thingies"

FOLFIRI for six months? Yeah 13 two-week cycles. I agree with what Claudine and others have said, that I found FOLFIRI to be more tolerable than FOLFOX, which I did after my primary tumor resection and still got mets. :x My experience sounds pretty similar to Claudine's husband, I worked and did al...

Re: Lung nodules and other lung "thingies"

I don't believe I'm on the list either but qualify. Here's the lung part of the story so far for those interested: I had a 6mm spot show up in my lung at the same time as a spot in my liver; I had the liver met resected first and the follow up scan showed the lung nodule shrank to 3mm. Thinking that...

Re: Advice about resection and reconnection

If you don't mind me asking, at the worst, how many BM's per day were you taking? Did you have issues with bowel incontinence or leakage? How long did it take for things to resolve? Has the urgency improved? Most importantly, how did it affect your life? Were you able to work? Were you able to be a...

Re: Advice about resection and reconnection

Hi G, I had a similar sounding situation: stage 3B, did radiation+5FU then had the rectal tumor resected at MSK, with a temp ileostomy. They reversed it about 6 months later (I did FOLFOX in the interim). My tumor was low-ish but not so bad that the surgeon was overly concerned--I think it was about...

Re: Rising CEA After 2 1/2 Years on Keytruda

Hi Cynthia, We had a discussion a while back about TMB and Keytruda when I was looking into that. Ever since then I’ve thought about your journey from time to time as there are some similarities to mine. It’s been a source of hope and inspiration for me, so thank you for continuing to share your sto...

Re: Stage 3 to 4

Hi all, I wanted to report back in with an update as I just had another CT yesterday. It was good news: the suspicious lung nodule shrunk!! So it’s very likely not a metastasis, a big relief! Of course, I can’t seem to get a completely unambiguous scan, as they found a new lesion in the liver which ...

Upstate NY, but we gladly make the drive down to go to MSK. Thanks so much—I agree!

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

SGNYC, that sounds very similar to my situation and what I heard from the docs. In any case my only known liver met is already out with clear margins, so if anything recurs there I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Plus there’s still a chance the lung lesion could be benign! (Not counting on i...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Chadwick, I'm confused why your liver was resected but they didn't implant the pump at the same time. I had a met in each of my lungs and still got the pump. Hopefully your liver will stay clear in your next scans, but if you have a recurrence, get a consultation with Dr. Kemeny about the pump. Hi ...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

I saw the name mentioned and just wanted to say I had a liver resection with Dr. Kingham last month and it went really well. Both he and my onc agreed I wasn’t a good candidate for the pump due to a probable lung met, so I don’t have anything to add about that unfortunately. But surgically in genera...

Thanks for the link, it's really interesting stuff! I'll cross-link to your other thread in case anyone finds this and wants to read more of that discussion.

Re: Keytruda....Working for MSS....Mutation Burden is the Key

Thanks all for the replies and thank you Cynthia for bringing this to our attention! Sounds like if we need more evidence I could get in touch with Foundation One and possibly take their test too, but I’ll talk to my onc and see what she thinks and if there’s a good case already. I need to wait till...

Re: Keytruda....Working for MSS....Mutation Burden is the Key

I just got the results of my genomic testing back and I’m really interested in this thread because it seems like I might fall into the same boat. I’m confirmed MSS, but it states the estimated tumor mutation burden to be 13.2 mutations per megabase. Incidentally, this was also an MSK-IMPACT report—c...

Re: Mannose possibly enhancing chemo

Thanks for that link and context, GrouseMan, that’s good information. Great point about the IV solutions being in dextrose, I wasn’t aware of that. It sure seems like there's a relatively easy trial in here for a major center to do, using their clout/budget to get some reformulated in mannose to try...
