My mom’s port installation was the first surgery of her life and she was petrified but it really ended up being no big deal. Granted, the idea that something is installed under your skin is a weird thing to deal with, but the port really does make the chemo process a lot easier on the veins. You’ll ...

My mom was also staged at T3N2M0.

Doesn’t it feel empowering to have a stage and know how you’re going to attack it? I remember it did for me with my mom.

I am sorry I don’t have an answer but I didn’t want to read and not respond—just hoping you get answers and can get out of panic mode bc we all know that’s the worst feeling. ((Hugs)).

One potential benefit to short course is not dealing with any side effects. My mom still says her 5 days of short course were the easiest part of her whole journey. (Btw, she did not need a permanent colostomy with short course—did they say why that would be the case in your situation?)

I’ve seen a lot of stories on her where spots are found and turn out to be nothing of concern! I’ll be praying that’s the case for you!

My mom has her chemo locally but was also advised to do TNT through Mayo, where she ultimately had her radiation, surgery and reversal. Folfox affects everyone differently but in my mom’s case, she really experienced no effects except the cold sensitivity and hair thinning and fatigue (toward the en...
