Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

I'm not doing all that well, hence my silence. Good thing is that my best friend surprised me by flying in on my birthday, the 9th. Bad is that I've been sick the whole time she's been here.

Also trying to plan a trip to Chicago.

Sorry so short and terse, but need to lie down.

Peace,
Jane

Re: June Birthday Thread

June 9 I turn 52.

I'd like to say I'll see 53, but not too sure that is in the cards with all the progression, but hell, I wasn't supposed to see 47, so who knows!

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Hi everyone - so sorry for the disappearing act! I did indeed have sessions, the 28th, 29th, 30th. That mask is a bitch! I am doing pretty well, mostly just sleepy. Also my hands are super shaky from the steroids I've been on for almost a month (just starting stepdown mode now), so typing is difficu...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Jane, Just checking to see how things are going. You've been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be. I know it will be a while before the doctors will able to see results ( waiting is the hardest part!) Hugs! Sharon Hi Sharon - Thanks for checking in on me. :) Yesterday I had another MR...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Hi Jane, just wanted to say what a strong brave wonderful person you are... Thinking of you and wishing the best outcomes for SRS.... I have a feeling it all will be all right and you'll have much more time than you think. My feelings proved to be right almost always. Big Hug and warmest thoughts, ...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Maia, thanks so much for all your generosity in info and support! I was on Celebrex a few years ago, but I can't remember now for what (but it was prescribed by my onc). It made me a little sick and didn't really do anything. I've been on dexamethasone several times before; it was always in my pre-c...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Julie and Pete, thanks so much for the good wishes-I send them right back to you! Sharon, I'm not allowed to drive either, because of the dangers of seizure. Doc said I can drive 6-8 weeks after the procedure, if all goes well. I live alone, so not being able to drive really sucks. But that is least...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Hi everyone - sorry for the delay in responding to all of your wonderfully supportive and informative posts. Been a busy and emotional few days. Sharon, turns out my tumor is also in the right occipital lobe - have you had any vision changes? I have some, which is what drove me to an ophthalmologist...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Thanks everyone, for all of your help so quickly! Maia, I will check out those links you sent to me, and Sharon, thanks for the PM. MD Anderson (where my onc is) just called and my onc apparently has been talking to a different radiation onc who has more experience with my "situation" (wha...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Maia, thank you so much for the information. I am going to Google some of the things you mentioned. Yes, QOL is most important to me. Except for my family, almost all of my loved ones and friends live in Chicago; because previous to this, I had been told my time was more limited probably than I had ...

Re: Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Sharon, what were the effects on you of the Cyberknife (I know this procedure by name only, not what it actually is)? Is it radiation? I'm not sure where in my brain my met is, but I assume toward the frontal lobe, since it is impeding a pathway between my eyes and my brain. Given I have mets in bot...

Urgent! Brain Met, meeting radiation onc today!

Hi everyone. I posted this as urgent because of the time factor. Long story short, I just found out yesterday that my cancer has metastasized to my brain. This was my worst fear. I found out because I went to an ophthalmologist because I had weird blind spots. After his exam, an MRI was scheduled th...

Re: STIVARGA (Regorafenib) - ONGOING PATIENT EXPERIENCES

Hi Sharon - I still am not entirely sure when I will be starting it; my onc was on vacation and will be back tomorrow. I've been worried about the copay too. When I was on Xeloda, I was on a charitable program the pharmacy found so I either payed nothing or $5, and it didn't even go to my insurance....

Re: STIVARGA (Regorafenib) - ONGOING PATIENT EXPERIENCES

Thanks, Ashlee. Another question: how soon did you feel side effects after you started it for the first time? I ask because I am going to be leaving in a couple of weeks to spend a month and a half in Chicago. I have "pre-decided" that if the drug makes me really crappy feeling I won't do ...
