Ileo Reversal - LAR recovery

DH has reversal surgery this coming weekend. He had the vast majority (80%) of rectum removed and we know it’s going to be a journey to get to a new normal. We will get a full plan from colorectal (increasing fiber slowly etc) but I would be interested in any insights or suggestions for how to handl...

From Stage IV to NED!!!!!!

Hi Everyone, I haven’t posted in several weeks because it’s been a lot of scans and bloodwork and prep for ileostomy reversal. But I wanted to let this board know that as of this morning my DH is now NED per his oncologist!!!! It’s been quite the journey here from his July 4th Dx and we now enter a ...

Re: Please positivity about peri met

Trying, I can’t fully understand what you’re going through as I’m a caregiver to my DH not the patient, but I can relate to certain aspects of it. I remember when our doctors told us that they were treating my DH with neoadjuvant chemo before surgery and it was very difficult to not shout “roll him ...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Hi Rebecca, We’re also young, NYC-based, at MSK...and husband also Stage IV diagnosed in July 18 - he had single met in liver and lung so didn’t get HAI pump but had a complete neoadjuvant liver response and near complete lung response (they did VATS and small liver resection to quadruple check). Co...

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Hi Chadwick,

Very similar to my DH, who is also early onset. Are you NY based?

I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts. I’m very hopeful it’s not a lung Met but I have full faith in the excellent care at MSK to get both our families through hurdles.

Re: Hospitals that install HAI pump?

Hi, Just to offer some further info re the MSK approach when there is a lung Met. They don’t generally put in the pump if any lung Mets exist. DH had a single small liver met and a single small lung Met and we of course asked about HAI pump. The oncology team discussed it and didn’t feel my husband ...

Re: Tinnitus

Thanks. Yes I hope they can reduce not cut out but with the tinnitus (ototoxicity is a side effect, though not common) and the low platelets, I don’t know how they will handle it. This far, he’s had a pretty clear recovery/treatment and I keep remonding myself it’s impossible to get thru this withou...
