Re: Best diet for post colon resection???

Thanks guys. I have asked him too if anything he eats triggers it but he doesn't seem to think so. I think I'll tell him about insoluble fiber and the metamucil. Thanks again!

Re: Letting Go, by Atul Gawande

WOW HOT TOPIC!! What I got out of this article: When Gawande says, "there is nothing wrong with hoping, but the trouble is we have built our medical system and culture" around not accepting the possibility of death.......talking about it.....seeing that it possibly could happen.......

Re: Please help me deal with an insensitive person

As far as I am concerned it is nobody's business how you live your life, including family.
You also shouldn't feel like you have to answer to anyone especially someone who hasn't walked in your shoes!
Well put Nick!

Re: Waiting for my results. Scared, in disbelief, but hopefu

Horizon-I remember the day when the GI DR. came out and showed me the picture of my husband's colon-We had to wait a few days for the bx.,extremely hard 2 days, found out it was adenocarcinoma-moderate grade and had to come out. Moderate grade is all we knew, and we found out he was in stage 2a a fe...

Re: Juicer recommendation? Best veggies to juice?

My husband and I juice as well.
We follow (or I should say I follow-my husband is a good sport!) the Max Gerson juicing plan-
organic carrot, parsley, celery and apple (granny smith)
Sometimes I throw in kale or collard greens :D

Jaynee is right-I am not a dr either but that is the standard and CC takes almost a decade to appear-as our GI guy said.

Re: CEA doubling every 3 months

Hi- The comment you made about your oncologist saying he "cannot treat a number" caught my attention. My husband's surgeon says the same thing, but his oncologist says differently. We were getting concerned for a while because 4 months after surgery my husband's CEA's were 4.7-his oncologi...

Re: I still dont know...

George, Glad they are giving you an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy so that you can clear this up. I am not a doctor, but a nurse so I cannot diagnose, but suggest! :D Not to scare you but just so you know there is a colon cancer that is hereditary and young people can get it. It is called FAP (fami...

Re: HIPEC Doctor Reco and Experiences

Hi Jen, I live in northern cal,(east bay) am an operating room nurse and we do HIPEC, but unfortunately our gynecological surgeon only does these procedures for women. However when a few of us nurses on the HIPEC team were getting our training we went down to Santa Clara Kaiser to get a sense of wha...
