Re: Positive Quality Life after LAR

This is a super old post that I made, and I just have to come back and say how great my situation turned out. 2 years have come and gone, and I'm doing great. I've been riding horses, motorcycles, and doing all of the sports that I always have. The hardest for me really has been the early onset meno...

Re: Newly diagnosed rectum cancer

I had about the same stage of rectal cancer as you. I had a ULAR with temp loop ileo and just had a reversal 9 days ago. I have no rectum left at all at all. It's actually going better than I thought it would. I didn't have any chemo after and I'm so glad. Out of the 18 nodes they pulled, they were ...

Re: Genetic Testing?

I had genetic testing done, and the ironic part is that I don't have any colon/rectal cancer genes. But I am positive for the BRCA1 gene which is the breast/ovarian cancer gene. So a double mastectomy is in my immediate future as well as my ovaries removed in the next couple of years. I never would ...

The Doctor that I'm using at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital is planning on doing the whole procedure using minimally invasive techniques. So at least...

Positive Quality Life after LAR

I'm very new to this forum and I've appreciated the posts that I've read. I'm a 39 yo mom, I was diagnosed with a Stage 2 T2-3 Rectal tumor 5 cm from anal verge. I've elected to stop radiation because of the side effects. Everything still works as of now, no pain, just lots of running to the bathroo...

Re: Radiation induced menopause

You ladies are amazing! I was diagnosed in June of 2018 with Stage 2 rectal cancer at 39. I'm so glad that I read this forum as I was starting treatment. I meet with the rad onc and asked about vaginal problems, he dismissed my concerns with little regard. He told me that I absolutely would go throu...
