Re: T3cN2a, refusing chemotherapy?

Guys. Xeloda or Capecitbine (oral FU) by itself is very effective and very tolerable. The potential Benefit is worth the risk. The Oxyplatin is the bigger problem. You may or may not be able to deal with it. I would do the chemo. Xeloda mono therapy is definitely worth the risk. Its a no brainer act...

Re: New to board: Rectal Cancer 2a

Thanks guys! Your information was very helpful. I will be doing 4-6 months of Xeloda only! 1,000 Millgrams twice daily. Its the right move and Im finally comfortable we have a plan for better or worse. Time to move on and let the anxiety and stress behind and let the process take its course. Easier ...

Re: 23 Years Old - Rectal Bleeding

Hello everyone, I am 23 years old and I have had rectal bleeding for the past few years now. I went to the doctor about 18 months ago and let them know that I consistently (Probably 80% of the time) have bright red blood when I wipe and that it had been going on for a year or two. Its always on the...

Re: Short course radiation? 3D or IMRT?

Hi all...question for those who have had radiation. Did any of you do a short course? Also, what type of radiation, 3D or IMRT? We were told that side effects will occur about 4-5 weeks after treatment ends. Doc pretty much said it'd be diarrhea and fatigue. But based on what I've read here, I'm co...

Re: CHEMO? Any Stage 2a or 3 Rectal Cancer survivors that didnt do Chemo?

My wife is 6 years NED from stage 2A Rectal 12cm from the anal verge, no high risk factors and no chemo. 2A Rectal is though to be overtreated with Chemo. There is a lot of work going on to figure out when it is right and when it is overkill. Only you can make the decision that you can sleep with a...

Re: Losing the will to live

My mom was diagnosed in March and had surgery April 7. She’s stage IIIC. She started her first 3-week round of Xelox regime May 16. She stopped eating and was barely drinking anything after I left to go home on June 1. I live on the opposite coast but flew out there and stayed for 2 1/2 months to b...

CHEMO? Any Stage 2a or 3 Rectal Cancer survivors that didnt do Chemo?

Looking for the survivors of Stage 2a T3(c) No Mo or Stage 3 for that matter who didnt do Chemo and survived. My signature gives my history so no need to repeat here. I understand I have a few high risk factors with LVI and PNI. Im not underestimating there prognostic value for future Mets. I will p...

Re: Age 19, colon cancer, did everything t get diagnosed ?

A tumor would've been hard to miss on Colonoscopy! I doubt you have cancer! Good job on insisting on a Colonoscopy though. I ignored rectal bleeding on and off for 2 years. Just dumb. I doubt you have Cancer. Colonoscopy would've shown it. It didnt miss. Something is causing bleeding but I don't thi...

Re: New to board: Rectal Cancer 2a

Thank you for the opinion. The OXY caused incredible vomiting for 4 days. Just didnt go well. Lost 15 pounds. From 150 to 135. Along with jaw pain and cold sensitivity, the Dr. thought the Oxy was the problem vs. the Xeloda. IM getting my strength and weight back and then deciding on Xeloda by itsel...

Re: Please advise. Blood in stool!! Scary!

Thank you for getting the Colonoscopy! Rectal Bleeding was my only symptom and it was only occasional. I went two years before I did the colonoscopy and they found the 3 cm tumor in my rectal area 8 cm from the anal verge. If I had went two years earlier when I first saw the rectal bleeding I could'...
