Re: THIS IS IT

It has been 4 weeks to the day since my John passed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I am so very, very proud of you for pulling yourself together and setting aside yourself for him. I hope you have a place to allow yourself to start grieving. Yes, I do feel it is okay to s...

Re: I CAN'T DO THIS from John603's wife

Hello Sue, What do you mean you can't do this? You have been doing this for over a year. I did it for three and a half plus years and never would have thought I could have either. John passed away just two weeks ago yesterday. I met him when I was 16 years old. It is so fresh and I am still so numb ...

John603 has passsed away

I am so profoundly sorry to bring you this news. John lost his battle with this horrible disease last week. He gave it his all for three years and seven and a half months. He was at home with me, as was his wish. Hospice was more helpful than we ever imagined they could be. His family has been unbel...

Re: John! What a pleasure to see you posting!

Hi all, I'm trying to post when I can. As you know I am now on hospice and I have finished active treatment. The pelvic mets seem to be causing most of my problems. It is very difficult to stand up for more than a couple of minutes a day and I think the cancer is crushing my vertebra and spinal cord...

Re: Recurrence.... Surprised? Or did you know?

Bonnie,

Are you worried about a recurrence at the original site or are you concerned that the cancer has metasticized to another location?

Re: Taking a Break from Chemo?

delue, This one is a tough one for me. Throughout the chemo process, I took several breaks (weekly, dose reductions, one long 8 month break). Ultimately, my Stage 3C diagnosis has ended in extensive metastatic disease. Did the breaks cause the result? Who knows. I think the weekly breaks didn't do a...

Re: FAA Medical Rejection

Tim, I'm sorry to hear your news. Can you appeal it? Even metastatic cancer wouldn't cause a problem with piloting a plane. At least in my opinion. I guess we can't have things both ways. Everyone wants fast and automatic disability with Social Security, so I guess having fast and automatic results ...

Re: Dr taking Oxaliplatin off regimen

Lexern,

What side effects has he had? If they are related to the Oxali, I'll bet they he will feel light years better. If they are related to the 5FU or Avastin, it may take some adjustments to get this right. Oxali has the most side effects but the other drugs can cause problems as well.

Re: blinding headache

Clarabelle,

Unfortunately, most of us probably don't know much about the side effects of a Stage 2 clinical trial. I think her onc's office will be your best source of info.

Re: update john603

Today was a better day for John. I'm sure you are all familiar with this roller coaster, but today he was much more under control. He didn't do anything different, it was just a better day. He never ceases to amaze me. He just did what he was afraid to do last night, went all the way upstairs and to...

update john603

From John's wife, Linda - I see many beautiful people looking for John. He is home and doing his best to win the battle with pain. He is at a point where his meds are quite high, and the docs want to switch him to a different type with a pump and he is resistant. Must be the memories of the three di...

Re: John603 and Linda?

Hi all, It is hard to get in a comfortable position to surf the web. My onc increased my pain meds over the weekend. I feel better but I'm not at 100%. We are trying to iron out the glitches with hospice. They are supposed to reduce our costs by paying tor my meds. Right now I am battling a low grad...

Re: Really Bad Scan Results

This is John603's wife, Linda. He has had a rough couple of days. He is in too much pain to let you know how he is doing, but did ask that I let you know. The pain down his left leg won't quit and despite having his meds increased it still is raging. We are hoping for improvement by tomorrow. I will...

Re: Really Bad Scan Results

Hi all,

I had a really rough night last night with sciatic-like pain. When I awoke this morning, I found that one of my fentanyl patches had come loose. I replaced the patch this morning, and the pain has lessened a little bit, but I haven't been able to stand for n\more than a couple of minutes.

Re: Really Bad Scan Results

Hi all, Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm leaning towards not doing any clinical trials. I'm not sure I want to deal with side effects, blood draws, spending my time at med facilities, etc. I did ask about radiation and my onc said that the pelvic lymph node field is just so big that they would ha...
