Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Hi Paige, So sorry for the lung garbage but hopefully it was caught early and you can carry on. I too had a LARS flair up that went on for months. My oncologist suggested a scoop of metamucil a day. It has done wonders for me. Since diagnosis I have been taking a good probiotic and I think it has he...

5 years post stage 4 diagnosis and all clear!

Hi Everyone, I don't post much anymore but do check in from time to time. In late December I was at Mayo Rochester for my annual review. All is clear and I was released to my primary Dr. A little mixed feelings about it all. I love being considered cured but will miss the care that I got at Mayo. On...

Re: Long-term question - does anyone else feel extremely cold in winter?

Absolutely! Before chemo, I loved the cold of winter and struggled in the hot weather. Since chemo, I am the exact opposite. I thought I was the only one!

I will be at 5 years since diagnosis on June 6th. Can't believe it has been this long and yet it seems like yesterday.

Re: A big mystery solved?!?!

Thanks for the suggestion! It seems that the center closest to us is Seattle - and that’s still quite a ways away. How many visits did you have? My feeling is that DH will prefer to stay local for this, in order to continue working... And of course there’s always the questions of whether insurance ...

Re: A big mystery solved?!?!

Hi Claudine,

Any chance DH can get to a center that uses proton beam radiation? I did short course of proton beam at Mayo Rochester before surgery and it was a breeze, relative to everything else.

4 year report-stage 4

Back at Mayo last week for my 4 year post surgery scans and check up. I got the "see you in a year and all looks good"!

Hang in there all going through treatment. Stay strong!

Re: Can liver mets be cured without surgery

I had a resection but after Folfox and Vectibix, they could not find any viable cancer cells in the the liver biopsies that they took. They actually had a hard time finding one of the tumors. I had very small tumors and I think responded to the vectibix very well so I think I am a rare case.

Re: Diet & survival - where are we at?

Hi Rob, No real help here but wanted to say I am sorry for this latest hurdle you have to go through. ULAR certainly adds a twist to the equation. I try to eat relatively healthy and balanced but if I do any more than the minimum of vegetables, my colon goes crazy. Protein is what keeps my digestion...
