Re: Thin walled cavitary lesion to solid nodule?

I had a bilateral laser surgery in Germany in October and November of last year. 10 spots were removed from my right lung and four of them were shown to be metastatic rectal cancer, lymph nodes negative. On the left side because of the proximity to the vessels they removed most of my left lower lobe...

Re: Looking for Options for un-resectable lung Mets

Hi Rob, I had bilateral lung mets removed using laser-assisted pulmonary metastatectomy in Germany in October 2018 and November 2018. I had four mets in my right upper lung and three mets in my left lower lung and was told they were not resectable. I sent my latest CAT scan images to Dr. Drewes in C...

Re: Anyone with peri mets who survived?

Hi Lydia, I was diagnosed with stage II rectal cancer in December 2016. Lymph nodes were negative and no metastases but it had broken through the colon wall. June 2018 four spots on my right lung and three spots my left lung were noted. I had these removed in Germany with laser assisted pulmonary me...

Re: Major cancer centers/insurance

Just my opinion, but health insurance options for early retirees suck. DH retired a couple years ago, and went on COBRA which lasted for 18 months. 36 months is not guaranteed, butt may be an option in certain specific situations. Obamacare options didn't really work for us, since we spend time in ...

Re: Lung recurrence update- good news

Hi Beccashocked, I'm new to this board - looks like I'll need a lobectomy for a central left lower lobe nodule. Which lobe did you have removed if I may ask? I've heard that lower lobe resections may have more impact on lung function than upper lobectomy because of greater oxygen transfer in lower l...

Re: Liver lung mets rectal cancer UK

Hi Murb123,
My Cea was 3 at diagnosis, now 2 1.5 years later with lung mets.
On Folfiri+ Avastin with f/u scan 8/18 and 2nd opinion at Md Anderson when I get results back.
Lung mets are currently considered inoperable but I'm looking into laser lung surgery in UK or Germany.

Re: Liver lung mets rectal cancer UK

Hi Murb123,
Looking back on it my cea was actually 3 at diagnosis, dropped quickly to 1 and then was 2 when the mets in lung were found 6/18.
Can you get a 2nd opinion in NHS?
Best,
JulesW

Re: Liver lung mets rectal cancer UK

Good evening,
I have also recently learned about spots on my lungs s/p rectal ca surgery. My Cea hasn't risen above 2 in 1.5 years.
I don't know about navigating the uk system ut I'll be researching rfa vs laser vs cryoablation vs traditional vats surgery.
Best
