Re: Signet Ring Cell Survivor Update

I so needed to see this. 1 1/2 years out from Signet Cell Rectal Cancer. Two clean scans and I feel like I’m on borrowed time. Thank you for giving me some hope.

Rectal Bleeding Post Surgery

Hello, I had surgery for stage 3 rectal cancer in October, and an ileostomy was put in place. The margins from the surgery came back clear. I have had 2 clear CT scans since then (11/18 and 5/19). I have recently had 2 instances of bright red blood when wiping (very small amount), as well as some in...

First Scan Since Completing Treatment

Hey all, I finished my second round of chemo March 15th, and had my first CT scan yesterday. I find out the results tomorrow, and am so nervous! I had a CT scan in October for a surgery related issue and it did not show any new masses or metastases. Has anyone had their first scan come back with new...

Re: Upstaged after surgery

Sorry, one more question. . . I felt really good the first five or so days after surgery, but since then I’ve been feeling progressively worse-low grade fever, aches, chills, fatigue. I was pretty active and fit before surgery, and rarely got sick. It could be I’m just not used to feeling this way, ...

Re: Upstaged after surgery

In addition to all this, I’ve had a low grade fever the past two days and generally feel like crap (had surgery on 10/17). I contacted my surgeon, and he wants to stick with the Thursday appointment. I wasn’t able to speak with anything directly but his nurse left a message just as the office was cl...

Re: Upstaged after surgery

Hi, thanks for your reply! I realize I need to make time to make a signature. I did do 28 days of radiation and Xeloda. The path report from my colonoscopy indicates the tumor had signet ring features, but I think everyone wanted to wait to confirm this during surgery (especially since my understand...

Upstaged after surgery

Well, my path report was uploaded to my chart, and after reviewing it, it appears I’ve been upstaged from stage 2A to stage 3C. Even more concerning the tumor was identified as “Adenocarcinoma with Signet Cell Features”. I know signet cell is not good news. Any words of advice? I see my surgeon Thur...

JP Drain question

Hello. I have a question I haven’t seen the answer to elsewhere. I had a laparoscopic LAR on 10/17, and all went well. I left the hospital three days later and came home with a JP drain. It’s working fine and still draining about 50 consistently. However, since Friday, the side that the drain is on ...

Re: Just diagnosed with rectal cancer and terrified

Thank you all for your wonderful words of support! After talking with my doctors and getting scans out of the way, I am feeling calmer. I do have a question though: I had a pet scan that came back clear (except for my tumor), no spread to other organs. Is it still possible I could be staged at a fou...

Re: Just diagnosed with rectal cancer and terrified

Thank you both! I really appreciate your stories and support. I’m 39 and have no family history of any cancers (which I’m finding out it not unusual) so this is a real shock. I don’t know anything about the tumor, except that it’s cancerous. Looking back, I fear there were signs I missed, so I’m kic...

Just diagnosed with rectal cancer and terrified

Hello, I just found out this morning that I have a mass in my rectum. I had been experiencing intermittent bleeding for about six weeks. I have all my follow up scheduled, but won’t know anything for a week. I’m terrified that because it was bleeding that it will be later stage. I’m also terrified t...
