Re: Stage 4 in Australia.

All of my cancer treatment has been within the private system. After my 2017 stage 3 NSCLC treatment I was involved in a car accident and went by ambulance to Gold Coast University Hospital and to date this has been my only experience with the public system. The hospital was brand new so the facilit...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Had a CT on Monday and had my oncologist appointment on Wed.; Evident tumour shrinkage. Even at 66% dosage the results are favourable and my haemoglobin levels are fairly steady at 93g/L. Looking good.
Just keep plugging away.

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

13 years today since my resection and still free of CC. Unfortunately my NSCLC is a roller coaster. I've had chemo, chemo+ radiation and was cancer free for about 16 months. Rediagnosed as Stage 4 last year, Alimta+Carboplatin but had to have a break with very low haemoglobin. Restarted with opdivo ...

Re: Me again, my fave topic: CEA

I was a smoker so my CEA was elevated at 4,0-4.3, fairly stable.
March 2017 it rose to 6.1
Oncolgist had me off for a PET scan. Tumor activity.
EBUS biopsy confirmed NSCLC and a new chapter of chemo began.

Re: Another anniversary

Hello Ron Another year passes by. My situation is getting precarious. Though I was reluctantly declared cancerfree in 2017 I'm afraid the NSCLC returned last year. After 4 cycles of Alimta + Carboplatin I was given a break from chemo in Nov.,Dec.,and January. My haemoglobin had dropped to 71g/L. Any...

Re: Anemia -- how have you dealt with it?

I am currently on Alimta and Carboplatin for recurrent Non Small Cell Lung Cancer ( my Colon Cancer memories are safely deposited in the forgettery). My 1st line treatment for NSCLC was Gemcitibine + Carboplatin and Taxol + Carboplatin. The Gem destroyed Haemoglobin and it took 18 months to recover....

Re: Bucket List

I've always said that if I'm seen driving a Ferrari the sh#t has hit the fan.
In 2007 I went and bought a Breitling Navitimer.
In 2017 I bought a BMW M240i ( a beast in its own right). With 1600km on the clock I wrote it off. Courtesy of Allianz I got a new replacement.

Re: For a friend: recommendation for a good lung cancer support forum/group?

I was diagnosed in 2017 with Stage 3 NSCLC.
I belong on this site but it is not a very active site but the people are helpful.

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

12 years NED from Colon Cancer today.
Unfortunately my NSCLC is looking very shaky. I have a guided biopsy of lung nodules this week. If that proves to be cancerous it will be immunotherapy for me. Most likely Opdivo.

Aside from stomach cramps for about the first fortnight I have had no other issues. Then I was on 2 * 1000mg/day which is the max dose.

Re: Berberine

Anyone familiar with Diabetes forums would be familiar with Berberine. The most common medication for T2DM is Metformin but unfortunately there is a percentage of the population who suffer from gastric issues with that drug. They can, however tolerate Berberine, though its efficacy is a bit hit or m...

Plenvu

With another colonoscopy scheduled for next Wednesday, I collected my prep yesterday..Plenvu.
Looks interesting. Not as much prep to swallow as Moviprep and the dietary restrictions beforehand are not as restrictive.
Any experience ?

Re: Are your chemo IVs in a Glucose solution?

Last year my chemos ( Gemcarb and Carbo Taxol) came in glucose solution ( for NSCLC.) From an initial position of zero Dexmethasone I negotiated to 8 mg / infusion. At my first diabetic blood test after I had finished chemo my HbA1c had risen to 6.1. It has now stabilized at 5.60 so I'm happy with t...
