Re: Bucket List

I've always said that if I'm seen driving a Ferrari the sh#t has hit the fan.
In 2007 I went and bought a Breitling Navitimer.
In 2017 I bought a BMW M240i ( a beast in its own right). With 1600km on the clock I wrote it off. Courtesy of Allianz I got a new replacement.

Re: For a friend: recommendation for a good lung cancer support forum/group?

I was diagnosed in 2017 with Stage 3 NSCLC.
I belong on this site but it is not a very active site but the people are helpful.

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

12 years NED from Colon Cancer today.
Unfortunately my NSCLC is looking very shaky. I have a guided biopsy of lung nodules this week. If that proves to be cancerous it will be immunotherapy for me. Most likely Opdivo.

Re: Berberine

Aside from stomach cramps for about the first fortnight I have had no other issues. Then I was on 2 * 1000mg/day which is the max dose.

Re: Berberine

Anyone familiar with Diabetes forums would be familiar with Berberine. The most common medication for T2DM is Metformin but unfortunately there is a percentage of the population who suffer from gastric issues with that drug. They can, however tolerate Berberine, though its efficacy is a bit hit or m...

Plenvu

With another colonoscopy scheduled for next Wednesday, I collected my prep yesterday..Plenvu.
Looks interesting. Not as much prep to swallow as Moviprep and the dietary restrictions beforehand are not as restrictive.
Any experience ?

hello Ron
Congratulations on another passing year.
I hope your life is hanging together.

Best regards

Re: Are your chemo IVs in a Glucose solution?

Last year my chemos ( Gemcarb and Carbo Taxol) came in glucose solution ( for NSCLC.) From an initial position of zero Dexmethasone I negotiated to 8 mg / infusion. At my first diabetic blood test after I had finished chemo my HbA1c had risen to 6.1. It has now stabilized at 5.60 so I'm happy with t...

Re: Question about necessity of CEA labwork

I would strongly argue for CEA bloods ...forever. Last year, nearly ten years after my original diagnosis my CEA started to rise. Two months later it had risen some more and I was sent for a PET scan. A tumour on my lung and 2 lymph nodes. NSC Lung Cancer. Without that CEA my NSCLC would have advanc...

Re: Cancer Again: Not Colon?

Hi Bill I might be an old grouchy Aussie but "thinks" isn't good enough. The treatment for a lung cancer primary and metastasized colon cancer is quite different. I had an EBUS biopsy not the old school mediastinoscopy and those results determined that my NSCLC was a new primary. Best wish...

Re: Cancer Again: Not Colon

Bill I was Colon Stage 3a in 2007 and diagnosed with Stage 3A NSCLung Cancer last year. I use LUNGevity to read and occasionaly post. Tom Galli is a real stand-up guy on that site. At the time of diagnosis I was declared inoperable. I had a small 2.5cm tumour and 2 lymph nodes. After 4 rounds of Gem...

Re: CEA false positives?

I don't know about false positives but CEA is a very useful alarm for a range of cancers. Last year over an 8 month period my CEA went from 4 to 6.2. My onc at the time sent me off for a PET scan. Result after an EBUS biopsy was Stage 3A NSCLung Cancer. I am now in remission from this but reflect th...

Re: Is the day that cheno treatment ...

It depends on when you get the last " hit" of dexamethasone. Last year when I was doing chemo for NSCLC , I reluctantly agreed on 8 mg on infusion day . I had a bottle of dex orals ( 4 mg) which I was supposed to take on days 2 and 3. Instead of 8mg I took 4mg on day 2 and nothing on 3. It...
