Re: Goodbye

Sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. Sounds like she passed with a great deal of loving grace. Trying to make people smile up to the end. Have to agree that it seems very strange that your bothers mother in law would make such a scene. WT? Try to focus on your moms film jokes, that obviousl...

Goodbye

Hello, My mum started home care on Feb 20th to ease her pain. She was sharp and brilliant, joking around until she started morphine. She died peacefully on March 4th, despite my brother's mother in law making a scene, trying to barge into the room several times while just the family was collected in...

Re: Stage 4 Stable ?

Any insight would be greatly appreciative as his dr does not give us a response other than “it is in God’s hands not his” . I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your query but I can't stress enough how an answer like this from your doctor really unnerves me. I had a similar situation with our oncolo...

Re: Bad News

MissMolly, thank you so much for your insight into the effects of these drugs. I just put on her first patch and was very worried, and this comforts me a lot. She has had a lot of trouble with codeine pouches (sorry not sure about the term to describe drugs you dilute in water) and we think it might...

Re: Bad News

Thank you all for your replies. My mum has been feeling very poorly in the last few days so her oncologist advised against starting treatment again now. He put her on a regime of steroids and fentanyl to get her back into shape. He is currently focusing on her QOL and wants to know how things go in ...

I think her KRAS mutation might rule out Keytruda for us, but I'll ask. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind words. Really hope the damage in the liver is manageable, and the spread can be contained.

Hey stu, this is her third scan post-diagnosis, but her first after a three month chemo break.

Bad News

We got the blood tests back in preparation for the CT scan we have on Friday. CEA is not good at all. We started in the 6000s+, went down to 300 after chemo. Now it's over 12000. We spoke to our oncologist on the phone and he is not happy with these results either (well, I mean, I wouldn't want to m...

Re: Its me....Again

Nicole, you're not annoying, you're going through a tough time! It doesn't look like life gave you much of a break in recent times, BUT your body is fighting like a champion. Chemo is awful, but it's been working wonders on you, so as painful as it is, try to focus on the idea one day you may be log...

Re: This chemo is knocking me down

I'm very sorry you're going through this. My mum had the same three effects you are reporting, sometimes at the same time. The depression can be particularly confusing - she is not one to have a sunny disposition, but you could tell this was a completely different beast and something chemical. It di...

Re: Newly Diagnosed - Broken

Hi Paola, Sorry for the reason you are here. As a caregiver, my whole world crashed on me and, although I didn't get the diagnosis myself, I do sympathise with the feeling of hopelessness - but it will get better! And this forum is the perfect place to start. My mum is currently on a chemo break, an...

Re: A distressing situation

They said they had a ‘benign aspect’ on the CT, and neither of these showed up as mets on the PET scan. My onc was happy to put these down to normal bone development, aging and injury (and I’m ‘only’ 36). It definitely happens. Best wishes to you all. Ah, thanks Rock_Robster! I've been pushing for ...
