Re: Im mentally breaking

I don't feel qualified to give anyone advice on this topic, but this helped me. I focused on my kids. The're older than yours - teenagers - but I decided that I was going to present a brave face to the, every day, all the time. For the most part, I was able to do that - and they were therefore able ...

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

My diagnosis was almost one year ago, at age 51 - colon cx w/ single liver lesion. Completely shocking, of course. On the advice of my doctor, I decided not to do much research. He told me I would find old and out of date statistics, usually involving older, sicker patient cohort. I took that advice...

Post-Op Bowel Issues - What's Worked for You?

I'm 4 mos. out from surgery, which consisted of liver resection and removal of approx. 20 cm of intestine (near recto-sigmoid junction). I was back to normal diet very shortly after surgery. Bowel function hasn't been terrible, but I do get occasion bouts of very liquid diarrhea - which often hits m...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

You have my deep sympathies. Hang in there and remain hopeful. I had a 1 cm liver met, which was diagnosed immediately after colon cx diagnosis. After 6 FOLFOX treatments, the liver met was completely obliterated! The surgeon could not find it at surgery (open procedure) so he removed the entire lob...

Post Bowel / Liver Resection Post-Op Symptoms - Q for Those Who Have Been There

Hello, All. New to the board, but I've already benefited from a number of postings. [BTW, don't know how to fill in the little bio section that most people seem to have.] I had surgery 1 mo. ago ago, w/ removal of approx 20% of my liver and about 18 cm of colon (around rectosigmoid junction). All we...

Re: Surgeon has me feeling horrible

Hi, all. New to board and first post here. I was compelled to sign up and post in order to reply and hopefully offer some words of comfort. Your surgeon is clueless. I was diagnosed in Dec. of last year with primary tumor at rectosigmoid junction, and single tumor on the liver (biopsy proven). After...
