Re: Correlation between weight loss and prognosis?

Thanks for the replies. We had been tracking his calories and he was eating about 2300 a day for a solid month. Despite this, he has still lost all this weight. I’m so angry at him for having delayed his treatment for so long. I feel that he has no gotten to the point of no return....not sure this c...

Correlation between weight loss and prognosis?

Hi, My husband was diagnosed on May 23 of this year. He has not started chemo or radiation yet. Since diagnosis, he has lost 34 pounds. His hair has thinned significantly.....so much so that I can see his scalp now. Also, he is acting strange, in the sense that he is frequently forgetting common wor...

Re: Stage 3 rectal cancer....

That’s strange. The standard is to begin with radiation along with small dose chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. What exactly is his disagnosis? Recto-sigmoid tumor, stage 3C, T3-4a, N2, M0. They are worried he’ll form a life-threatening blockage during chemo/radiation, so both the radiologist and o...

Re: Stage 3 rectal cancer....

Thats what treatment is all about. My husband has been refusing treatment. Has to have ileo before chemo/rad....has canceled ileo twice. Is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, we’ll see.... He’s already saying he won’t do mop up chemo and is “open to trying” Xeloda after ileo. It’s been 2 1/2 months si...

Stage 3 rectal cancer....

Does stage 3C recital cancer inevitably lead to stage 4?

I know miracles are possible and only God knows, but I guess what I’m asking is if anyone here was diagnosed with 3C recital and never progressed to stage 4.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Wives,

Is it just my nose or does your husband’s cancer have a rancid smell to it?

I clean the bathroom religiously, yet the whole house smells so bad! I don’t know what to do...it’s really hard to stand it.

Re: Leakage.....

Daniella: Anal leakage can be emotionally exhausting to deal with. Messy, oozing, foul in odor. I use a pad specially designed to address anal discharge. The name of the product is “Butterfly Pads.” The pad derives it’s name from it’s shape/configuration. It has the shape of a butterfly, with two e...

Leakage.....

Hi, My husband is experiencing “anal leakage” in the form of mucous and coffee ground-like stool. I tried getting Depends and he refuses to wear them, saying it’s uncomfortable. Do any of you recommend a particular product that will catch anal leakage (and not just a product for bladder incontinence?)

Re: CT scan report and PARA-AORTIC Lymph Nodes!

Hi! Sorry for this new diagnosis. I think M refers to long distance metastasis like lungs or liver. Prominent means that they are enlarged, but they need a histologic test to see if they are cancerous. Claudia Thanks for replying, Claudia. I’m thinking there’s only one reason they are enlarged...ca...

CT scan report and PARA-AORTIC Lymph Nodes!

Hello everyone, I am sincerely trying to calm my anxiety and not freak out. My husband has been diagnosed with rectosigmoid-sigmoid cancer. The CT report for “staging” says T3-4a, N2, M0. However, I’m concerned about a part of the report that mentions, “multiple, prominent para-aortic lymph nodes.” ...

Re: Alberta, Canada——-coverage for Capecitabine (Xeloda)?

It's on the Alberta Health Services drug benefit list. Here's the link https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/programs/ps-1025651-drug-benefit-list.pdf Alberta Health Services shall provide cancer drugs specified in the Outpatient Cancer Drug Benefit Program, at no charge, to eligible resident...

Alberta, Canada——-coverage for Capecitabine (Xeloda)?

Hi all,

We are in Alberta and found out today that my husband will have to take Capecitabine for 5.5 weeks.

Anyone in Alberta know if Alberta Blue Cross covers this drug?

What about vacation?
I assume tha he should have at least a few weeks.

What about his benefits?
I have not heard about an employer that doesn't provide at least minimal plan.

There’s lots of employers that don’t, unfortunately.

Re: Canadians-Husband diagnosed-what about WORK and PAY?

My husband was diagnosed a few weeks ago with colorectal cancer. Treatment should start soon...we are meeting with the oncologist next week. My husbands work only gives him 5 sick days and 4 personal days. In Canada, does that mean after he uses those 9 days, he only gets 4 months of medical EI? Pl...
