Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

I'm so happy for you and your stability! Was it a weight off your shoulders or are you dreading the next check? It was a weight off my shoulders. I described it to my husband that it’s like I get “reset to factory settings” when I receive good news, and then by the time I approach my next test I’m ...

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

Anyone else worry about every little action they take (or don’t take) ? Not enough walking/ working out that week, too much sugar, not enough greens, forgot to drink my green tea... it’s exhausting. Ksue Yes! I wanted to get a chocolate keratin treatment on my hair and of course, I'm reading into e...

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

Boxhill,
Yes, I know... a CEA rise from a benign cause is good! It’s just the false alarm it causes when I see the rise- It does a number on me. I think because I had OCD (health focused) before even getting diagnosed , I have a hard time “letting it ride”.

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

For me this never gets easier. CEA check on Monday. I’ve put it off, now it’s been 4 months instead of 3. I had a terrible bout of bronchitis for a whole month and am worried that will increase the number. I’ve also had major family health issues coming in hot from every direction. I have been so s...

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

Totally feeling your anxiety too—my mom’s CEA check and CT scan is this coming Tuesday. I can’t stop thinking about it and obsessing over it. She’s also been sick with an upper respiratory thing the past week or so and isn’t totally over it. Worried that might affect things. Hugs to you and I’ll be...

Diane! That is incredible news!
So very happy for you. You have definitely been an encouragement to me. I’d love to know which shows you are on once you are allowed to. That sounds really fun :D

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

Thanks for your reply CRguy. I agree with everything stated above, I guess I didn’t word it right, because I know we are all survivors from day 1! I just get hung up on numbers.. fixated... (diagnosed with ocd) Ksue NOTHING wrong with your post / question homie  see how many interpretation...

Thank you for your reply. That’s the way I’m counting it but doc has set me back. I just get hung up on numbers. A weird coping mechanism I guess

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

I have always looked at Overall Survival rates being from day diagnosed. So for DH he has passed the 4yr OS mark. For NED I count the day no scans or tests show cancer. So for his current bout, it would be NED since Nov. 2018. He has been NED before twice, with the clock restarting with each new me...

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

I think that "survival" has to be from day of diagnosis. Which is totally different from "progression-free survival" or "NED" or whatever. None of the other alternatives suggested really make any sense. It can't be surgery, since some people have treatment with chemo a...

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

Not to throw a monkey wrench into this discussion topic ( we have had this discussion a few times over the years   ) AND various centers and studies will have SPECIFIC definitions of their "survivor" terms and conditions when publishing stats etc. BUTT .... you just KNOW t...

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

My oncologist from MDA is using the surgery date as the beginning of my 5 year countdown. Surgery was November 2016. Even though I finished chemo in June of 2017, he has me at the end of 3 years NED as November 2019. Ok yea.. this makes sense to me. Not sure why my doc said end of chemo. I’d just l...
