Re: Marking time from first diagnosed or??

Thank you all for your replies. I see there is no hard and fast rule for when to start marking time! My son's oncologist told us that colon cancer tends to recur most in the first 2 years, and his CC was found on a colonoscopy Nov. 2017 which is why I was asking. Thanks be to God his chest/abdominal...

Marking time from first diagnosed or??

When can we mark time to say we have had no cancer for 2 years, 3 years, etc?

Is it from the time of the very first Diagnosis? After the first surgery? When chemo ends?

It was on Dec. 28, 2017 that my son informed me that he had colon cancer. Now, nearly a year later, after surgery and 12 rounds of chemo, he is doing very well. A year ago I was terrified. I know he is not out of the woods yet, but it is so good to see him without the chemo side effects, and with hi...

Good news

My son had a colon resection in January and completed 5 months of FOLFOX on July 30. His port was removed in October. He had a clean colonoscopy this morning--thanks be to God! The GI Dr wants a repeat in 3 years and annual Hemoccult. Oncologist has a CT scan scheduled for December along with more b...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy post chemo

My son completed 12 cycles of FOLFOX on July 30. After about the 9th cycle, peripheral neuropathy started first in his fingertips, now in the hands and feet. Oncologist gave him the option of stopping chemo but he wanted the full treatment. He (and I) are hoping it will eventually go away; oncologis...

Bomberbob I beg to differ.

You DO have grand words of wisdom to share. You write simply and eloquently. Your words give me hope for my son and all others here who are fighting this battle. Thank you, thank you!

The end of chemo

On July 30 my son got his 12th and final FOLFOX chemo, and today got un-tethered from the chemo pump. Hooray! Major hurdle done. Thank God. Now begins the slow road getting back to his healthy self, and surveillance. The oncologist told him at least 2 months before he begins to feel like himself aga...
