Re: Mop up chemo - Port vs non-port for Oxi?

I did six rounds without a port. I did not have any issue at all. I did it in my arm at inside the elbow joint. Cynthia Same here. Found it very doable, switching arms/elbows each cycle. I believe the hot packs that the nurses diligently applied may have made the difference. Keeping the receiving a...

I wouldn't be concerned. Your ALT is well within the normal range. Sending all the good vibes, positive energy, and prayers for your good scan results on Tuesday.

Re: Laid off before Dx

I think the Affordable Care Act is a lifesaver and a godsend. It is especially critical for those of us with pre-existing conditions. Insurers wouldn't cover those of us with pre-existing conditions before the ACA. My husband and I are retired and purchase health insurance through healthcare.gov. We...

Re: Numbness in Rectal Area

Yep...I had this symptom too. Relatively harmless little thing but was a little disconcerting! Seems like it took a while to go away, but it did finally.

Re: Anyone doing xelox and xeloda. Please help

Everyone's experience is different. For me, when the infusion got uncomfortable or painful, that's when they would slow it down and/or give me a heat pack. Maybe you could split the difference and go with three hours and adjust if necessary. The pain was generally less the higher in the arm in a big...

Re: Anyone doing xelox and xeloda. Please help

Hi, Jolene - I also wanted to reiterate what someone else mentioned here... If your infusion is higher up in the arm, it's not nearly as uncomfortable as in the hand. And if the infusion is ever a little painful, the nurse can slow it down and it helps a lot. My infusions were generally 5-6 hours. I...

Re: Anyone doing xelox and xeloda. Please help

Hi, Jolene - it doesn't sound like you have much cold sensitivity.. That's great! Usually the cold sensitivity was wearing off a bit after a week or so following the oxy infusion. I definitely had stomach pains, gas, bloating, etc from the capecitabine. Intermittent diarrhea. My Dr prescribed Prilos...

Re: Anyone doing xelox and xeloda. Please help

Good luck tomorrow, Jolene! Sorry I am a little late to chime in here...I had the exact same treatment that you will be having...6 rounds of capeox without a port. Here are a few thoughts: - I had a desk accounting job, only three days a week. I thought I would have no problem continuing to work but...
