Anyone need help/info about ileostomies

I've noticed there aren't many ostomates here. I've had a permanent ileostomy for over 2 years and can help answer questions you may have.

Re: Fistula Questions

I didn't have post surgical fistulas but I did have multiple rectovaginal fistulas caused by Crohn's which resulted in my permanent ostomy. She has my sympathy. Fistulas are horrible and I dread getting them again. My ileostomy is way better than fistulas any day.

Re: Adenocarcinoma and crohn's after surgery

I can answer about Crohn's. Yes she still has it. If it is cut out she is in remission but Crohn's can occur anywhere from gums to bum in the GI tract so it can return. Mine reappeared in my stomach after having my colon and rectum removed.

This truly does help lesson my anxiety. I really appreciate you sharing.

Re: Constipation vs Bowel Blockage whats the difference?

I just had a partial obstruction (in small intestine as I don't have a colon anymore) after my J tube surgery a few weeks ago and I was vomiting massive amounts of bile, very nauseous and severe pain.

Re: Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Scheduled for end of month, and I fear I might have colon cancer

First relax. Like many others who come, scared!!! Avoid Dr. Google, you can diagnose your self with anything with Dr. Google. Many people come here convienced that they have cancer only to learn after the colonoscopy that they are fine. Also know that many different issues could be causing your sym...

Re: Ileostomy?

@sethshae I had a total proctocolectomy with end ileostomy in May 2017 because of Crohn's. I am not drug resistant but I had nasty nasty fistulas that Remicade didn't heal (only drug that works for fistulas). If I could go back in time I would have had it done right at diagnosis. I was too scared. R...

Happy world ostomy day! I don't have cancer but I do have a permanent ileostomy. My ostomy is named Kanye or Donald, always spewing crap! Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm also getting a new stoma (maybe on Friday) though it's a J tube.

Re: STAGE 3 rectal cancer treatment without surgery

I am thinking I would rather still have the surgery because my tumor literally was up against the anal sphincter and it didn’t shrink enough to warrant no surgery and I also therefore needed to have a permanent colostomy. I know, most people would try just about anything to not have an ostomy and I...

Re: CBD oil and IBS

@zephyr that happens even with quality products. They are suspended in oil so that is a highly possible side effect at first. The mmj nurse warned about this in the education group at my pain clinic. I'm in Canada so prescription and purchase through a licensed producer is required at this moment so...
