Re: Update Well its time for a CT Scan

My CEA had risen to just above 8 and now is around 7. My oncologist told me on Thursday that CEA may well be linked to inflammation in general, so my acquisition of RA at some point during the last two years could have driven it up, and the RA treatments could be bringing it down. Through all of thi...

Does "We" Drive Anyone Else Crazy?

Look, I don't intend to offend anyone, supporters. But when non-patients refer to the disease and its treatment as if it were theirs, it grates on me. Especially when the non-patient refers to "we" when making decisions about care. I know you are devoted to your loved one. I know you are h...

Re: Applying for New Jobs Advice

I agree with jumpman. I wasn't employed when I had surgery/chemo, and I treasured the ability to just lie on the sofa when I needed to. I did have an active volunteer life, and people would always marvel at how well I was doing. I'd smile and say "I'm fine *today*." They didn't see me on b...

Re: Covid 19 vaccine

Both my husband and I have had both shots of Pfizer with nothing more troubling that a day's worth of sore upper arm. Same thing for my mother, who is 98. As of yesterday it has been two weeks since my second shot, so I'm good to go, so to speak. :D Feels liberating.

Re: Rising CEA After 2 1/2 Years on Keytruda

I keep thinking about your and your scan results. I hope we hear good news from you soon. I have a routine MRI in a couple hours, first since December, and my scanxiety is riding high. This time I probably won't get the results until my Onc appt on Thursday. Sending good energy your way, no matter w...

Re: Chemotherapy for Stage 2A

I think my question here is why Capox, not Folfox. Capox includes Xeloda, which is more likely to cause hand/foot symptoms than 5FU, and, if I am not mistaken, more rapid and intense infusions of oxaliplatin that may be more likely to cause a reaction than the 2-hour infusions of Folfox. Yes, Capox ...

Re: Rising CEA After 2 1/2 Years on Keytruda

Keytruda can cause inflammation, and inflammation can cause CEA to rise. My personal CEA has never been as low as it was at diagnosis/surgery--same day for me!--when it was 3.4, IIRC. It's been between 6 and 8 most of the time since then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope you come back ...
