Re: Recently diagnosed

I, too, presented with a blockage, and had a right hemicolectomy without a colonoscopy. The surgeon vetoed waiting a day to do one, given what was seen on the ER CT. Honestly, I've never heard of anyone having that many lymph nodes removed. I suspect that it is a transcription error. My own surical ...

Re: Immunotherapy Experience & Advice

I was diagnosed Stage 4 in March 2018. After a right hemicolectomy, had to complete 12 rounds of FOLFOX because first line immunotherapy was not available at that time. Having "failed" FOLFOX as determined by MRI finding some progression in poorly located lymph nodes and a very small quest...

Re: juliej?

No insight into juliej, but there have been so many posters, people who are often in fairly dire circumstances, who vanish after a relatively short time. I never cease to worry about them and hope that they are well, although it seems unlikely.

Re: New member: Leg Swelling After Surgery

What surgery did you have, specifically? Right hemicolectomy, sigmoidectomy, et al?

Consider creating a signature that gives more information about your diagnosis and treatment. Makes it easier to make useful comments. :)

Seems like you should keep doing whatever you are doing.

Re: Long Term Avastin Use?

It probably isn't what you want to hear, but when I was on FOLFOX like many others I experienced the days of fatigue after pump-off day. My treatment of it was just to accept it and rest when I wanted to. There were some circumstances that made this feasible: I wasn't working and didn't have small c...

Re: Long Term Avastin Use?

Thank you for your insight, and the compliment. :) Avastin was never considered for my treatment. I always assumed that this was because its main benefit is to deprive tumors of vascular development, and after my initial surgery I didn't have any detectable tumors. Since then, a situation was detect...

I'm sure we are all thinking of you at this terrible time. Who knows whether you can get or send messages, or more importantly get treatment, but you are in my thoughts and those of many others I am sure.

Re: Colorectal surgeon rec. needed, Camdenton, MO

My surgeon was not a board-certified colorectal surgeon. He's a board-certified liver surgeon, who has a lot of experience with colorectal surgery (as well as liver transplants and so forth). He did an excellent job, and found and removed a tiny liver met that did not show on my pre-op CT in the ER....

Re: Long Term Avastin Use?

i looked up avastin side effects, and found this: "There is no data as to the frequency of adverse reactions that may be attributed to avastin alone. (In clinical studies avastin was used in combination with other chemotherapy medications)." I think that this is very pertinent to your ques...
