Re: Questions for radiologist?

I was instructed to take stool softeners or Miralax to be sure to avoid a blockage forming, as my tumor was quite large. I took the Xeloda exactly 12 hours apart and had them schedule my radiation appointments at about the same time every day so that I could have the Xeloda scheduled to be taken one...

Re: My mom is dying

I am so very sorry, words are so inadequate for me sometimes. My heart is breaking for your family and I pray you to have some peace when remembering the times together you had, and knowing that she is living on in your heart. You are her legacy on Earth.

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and the upcoming 4th of July. My daughter is scheduled to have her last chemo for triple negative breast cancer on July 3rd. She broke out with Shingles this past Wednesday and by Thursday they had her on Valtrex, if they are not weeping and scabbed on Tuesday...

Re: New Member - Cancer Recurrence

I finished the radiation (30 sessions) on May 8th this year. The last couple weeks were the most difficult, as I had really bad diarrhea. We got a bidet attachment for our toilet and I must say it was a lifesaver, using toilet paper will become impossible. When I was out I used a small bottle of wat...

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

Mike, I am definitely taking your advice and looking away, it kind of creeps me. Robin, for sure I will be using this and thanks for the tip about one hour before the appointment. Today, I picked the RX cream up, the cancer center pharmacy is located beside the open waiting room for the infusion cen...

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

Today my oncologist office called to let me know they had phoned in an RX for numbing cream to put on my port one hour before my appointment, so glad they did this. I can't imagine the port being used this Friday as it is very sensitive to touch, the incision very raw looking, with plenty of bruisin...

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

The port was put in on Friday and I have had very little pain, which makes me very happy. There is just a weird sensation, kind of a pulling in my neck when I move certain ways. They said I could take Tylenol if I needed, which I have not done. The port will have it's first use on Friday when I star...

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

I am so appreciative of everyone's kind words, advice and support, and encouragement I get from those who are so far ahead of me on this path. It looks like it is all coming together for Friday. I will be 8 weeks post radiation on July 8th and they have repeatedly said that it is important to start ...

Re: Life Earthquake: Wednesday Feb 21 Rectal Cancer T3C N2 M0

I need encouragement. I had asked for a port and my doctor did not feel it would be necessary, it is. My first chemo. Today did not go as planned. They blew 4 veins and the last one blew within 15 minutes of the 2 hour infusion the 4th one blew. I am highly allergic to valium and the derivatives so ...

Re: It's baaaaaaack!

I’m so sorry it is back and you will be going through more treatments. It sounds like you have a really good team of doctors and what a comfort to have an employer that will work with you. I’ll be praying for you.
