Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

Called my regular doctor today. She read the report over the phone with me. The polyp was hyperplastic, THANK GOD. As for the suspected inflammation, the report said mucinous lymphoid reaction, focal, superficial ( I think that was the word? Will get a copy of the actual report from gastro doc ) wit...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

. . . The doctor said “no cancer, no real areas of concern” but I just can’t convince myself otherwise. Can they really know just by looking?? ! YES!!! They are medically trained to know/look at these things. Are the 100% correct all the time, NO that is why a pathology report is so important. It s...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

I scheduled an appointment with the GI specialist that same day. She ordered another colonoscopy ASAP. Now I’m playing the waiting game. March 1st is the date. These symptoms are nothing like I had three years ago. I’m scared and I’m frustrated, and I’m so tired of not being taken seriously. Yes, I...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

I absolutely will. Whatever they want me to do as a preventative measure in the future, I’ll gladly do. I feel extremely lucky that I was able to get a referral out of my PCP now. She said she’d do it just for my peace of mind, not because she thought I needed it, and now we’ve found a polyp. Will t...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

Inflammation can lead to cancer. Yes a polyp can be precancerous. These doctors are very good when they think they have found cancer. I was told during my procedure that they had found cancer in me. The fact your doctor did not say this, please breath easy and try not to worry. Yes they want to wai...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

Well, had my scope done today. Removed a 5mm polyp but didn’t see any other areas of concern. No cancer, to quote. He thinks the pain is muscular. Doctor also took a biopsy of an inflammation area near the rectum though. He said it could’ve just been caused by the prep but sent it off for pathology....

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy or counselor?

I think the chance that you have cancer, particularly metastatic cancer, is next to NONE. I have about 10 reasons for this opinion, but you've already heard several of them. Have you had issues with any health anxiety in your life? The fears that go with that are huge, and hearing "it's probab...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy or counselor?

Forgot to mention, my newest round of bloodwork in January was normal except for elevated liver enzymes - 40 on a scale up to 33. Dr said it was likely due to meds that I was on, but I’d been off that med for two weeks. If both of my August CT scans were clear, could I have developed liver mets that...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy or counselor?

Thank you for replying. *hugs* After a particularly bad, sleepless night last night (not pain-wise: all I have right now is that pulling sensation. The only pain today seems to be that same old spot under the ribs, close to the surface, when pressed. ), I called first thing this morning and told the...

Re: 6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy or counselor?

Thank you for your reply. So many times on this journey I’ve heard that it would be very rare for someone my age to receive a CRC diagnose. While I don’t want to be that unicorn, everything I’ve read makes me believe that it really isn’t that rare anymore. It’s certainly frustrating to feel like I’m...

6 months of symptoms - colonoscopy results

Hi all. I find myself here in the midst of another battle with anxiety, hoping for some kind of guidance, whether it be for colonoscopy or counseling for this madness. Last July, I came down with an upper respiratory issue. Fast forward three weeks of various antibiotics and resulting severe constip...
