Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation

You are doing great. Yes, in some ways the ileo is a good but it does wear on you. It gets easier, more predictable overtime. When you do find out about adjunct chemo? Ask about a port. With small children and lifting I could not have managed if it had been in my arms. Your attitude and your family ...

Impressive upper body work, but you never slack off. I have begun yoga in earnest again now that my 6 weeks are up. I agree with Amy, humidity and heat are not my friend anymore. My balance is surprisingly good, probably from all the presurgical walking. LARS. I am finding one fiber tablet a day hel...

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

Hi Gang, Things are generally going well. I can go all day to work without issues, generally can wait to finish up what I am doing, as an example pouring wine in tasting room. I was able to finish up with customers, transition to a staff member and drive home. I still don't like using public restroo...

Re: Another post-reversal output issue thread

Well I had an MRI which showed nothing unusual. CEA was 1.6 so nice a low! The oncologist things I could have radiation proctitis causing issues with my bowels. I am having a scope on Monday to see what shows up but otherwise have had a couple "quiet" weeks since my bad week. Have had a c...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Late to the party but I too had a lot of pain initially whenever I sat down. I can’t remember when it passed but it took some time. I still drive with my cushion and I avoid hard seats at all cost. They seem to activate my bowels quite frequently. Dave Ditto that. Mike... are you running, ex...

Re: Another post-reversal output issue thread

Aren't the explosions awful? I go back to work on Tuesday and dread using a community restroom. I hope your issues resolve. What about psyllium husk? I have just started adding one capsule of fiber to my daily routine, psyllium . The bottle says up to dosage is three so I am starting small, prefer n...

Thanks everyone, I knew I could count on you. I have a special cushion I will use. Funny how many chairs I sit in that have little or no padding that I hadn't really noticed before or at least since radiation.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike, Did you ever have any internal pain, at site of anastamosis? My tailbone area is the place I have discomfort, just like after surgery. If so how long did it last? Anyone else want to weigh in here I would appreciate it. I find sitting down gets to be pretty uncomfortable, drove into Bay Area, ...

I have add a difficulty time with veggies too. I peeled my eggplant and it was okay. Butter lettuce also is easy to digest. I find I have a night of emptying and two days of just little stuff. The gas is probably the most uncomfortable thing. I honestly think the colonoscopy and aragon gas treatment...

Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation

The radiation shrunk my tumor almost completely, there was just scar tissue when they went in for surgery. My staging was considered high 2 by one, but another said 3. As I mentioned Miaderm and prescription Biafine were great. There is a study from Wash U Barnes Cancer Hospital published last Octob...
