Re: Polyps at (relatively) young age...wonderibg how to advocate

So my doc moved to Denver and new doc doesn't want to do the genetic testing and says insurance won't cover. Opted to do the Color test on my own and am awaiting the results. Figure I'll go from there. I'll keep you posted and appreciate your support. Kat520 - I have thought about doing the Color t...

Re: Questions about blood on tissue......

Any thoughts on this, should I email my GI doctor? I haven’t had blood since but I also haven’t had another bowel movement. The blood was pinkish in color and not a lot. Any thoughts please?

Questions about blood on tissue......

I had a colonoscopy on December 1, 2017 due to bowel issues that I had been having for several months. During the colonoscopy my GI doc removed one 5mm tubular adenoma from my ascending colon. I am only 42yo and he noted that I was young to have an adenoma. I am scheduled for a repeat colonoscopy in...

All over and all good. Thanks for the help and support. Good luck Susie![/quote]

How did it go, I assume when you say all good, they didn't find any polyps?

Re: Feeling stress

Thanks Maggie Neil. Good of you to reply. My colonoscopy is next Tuesday pm. I'm already watching what I eat. I will see my nurse next month, 11 months after the last appt. I do have some Lorazapam tablets to shut me up, but driving is not advised. They are two years old but should work if I had to...

https://www.ihadcancer.com/sites/default/files/scanxiety_is_also_fear_-_quote.png I LOVE this Maggie Nell......I do have scanxiety, but I also have anxiety because of the wait leading up to the scan/test. Since my colonoscopy, I think about the fact that my doctor found a polyp daily and I don't wa...

Re: Feeling stressed....

First of all yes a polyp can both be tubular and sessile, tubular is the “look” and Sessile is the “type”. Sessile just means it’s flat and not on a stalk, both are perfectly normal. Here is a link to understand the report. https://www.cancer.org/treatment/understanding-your-diagnosis/tests/underst...

Re: Feeling stressed....

Receiving a health-scare like you have brings you face-to-face with your own mortality and does your head in as we say in Australia. You now have a 'before' polyp and 'after' polyp divide down the middle of your life and it's a Big. Bloody. Deal. to you - it's your body. It's grown something nasty ...

Re: Feeling stressed....

You don’t have cancer. You have much to be thankful for. Don’t borrow trouble by consulting Dr Google. A repeat colonoscopy in 3 years is a very reasonable follow up. KimT you are so right, I have so much to be thankful for. I think MaggieNell summed up my state of mind perfectly. I was thrown a cu...

Feeling stressed....

I’m feeling stressed and looking for some encouragement. First, I do not want to offend any of you brave fighters with my questions, I ask my questions here because I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this board! I posted a couple of weeks ago about a 5mm precancerous tubular Adenoma that was r...

Re: Anxiety and questions about follow up and tubular adenoma

I don't think you need to worry right now. According to the MD Anderson protocol for colonoscopy followup, I think 5 years is normal if you have only one or two small tubular adenomas. See document below, page 3 https://www.mdanderson.org/content/dam/mdanderson/documents/for-physicians/algorithms/s...

Re: Anxiety and questions about follow up and tubular adenoma

Polyps at 5mm and under don’t often end up cancerous and tubular is the best look for it to have. Only around 10% of all Adeomas becomes cancerous that 90% that don’t. They most often make the checkup scale 1, 3 or 5 years depends on the report. They know approximately how fast it takes for a polyp...

Re: Anxiety and questions about follow up and tubular adenoma

Thanks to all of you for your feedback..... I'm wondering if I told my PCP that I wanted a colonoscopy at 3 years instead of 5 years, if my insurance would cover it? Do any of you know the answer to that? As for the genetic testing is that something my insurance would pay for based on my history? Wh...
