Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

Here's another link that was posted by a doctor on the Ontario Vaccine Task Force (Dr Isaac Bogoch) he seems to be the only one concerned about this. It seems crazy to go from the recommended 3 weeks between shots to 16 weeks - that seems like too much of a stretch, even for a healthy individual, an...

Re: Stage 1 to Stage 4

As Lee mentioned, it appears that rectal cancer tends to go first to the lungs, and colon cancer goes to liver first. However, this is not always the case. I had cancer in the most right-sidedness you can get - the cecum (had both cecum and ascending colon removed) and my recurrence like yours, was ...

Re: Nuelasta Injector

I was given a choice to either inject Neulasta myself or have a home care nurse come in the day after the disconnect to give me the injection. I chose the home care nurse, so would pick up the Neulasta from the hospital pharmacy, take it home and the nurse would inject it the next day. But I think i...

Re: Almost made 5 years and now have a recurrence

Thank you all for your well wishes. Surgery sounds like the way to go – not looking forward to tubes and stuff (need to look that up) but whatever it takes to get rid of this. My oncologist tells me that it’s fairly rare for a recurrence to happen at this stage (lucky me) but hopefully this will be ...

Re: Almost made 5 years and now have a recurrence

Thanks Crguy – just read your “trip report” and true to your nature, you even managed to have too much fun, while undergoing your lung procedure. Makes me almost look forward to it – - not :) You said you had a local block (marcaine) outside chest – does this mean you were awake during the procedure...

Re: Almost made 5 years and now have a recurrence

Hi Kiwininoz

I can’t thank you enough for all this info. So I'm guessing having a tube inserted is routine for this kind of surgery.

The location of the nodule is left upper lobe anterior – is this a good or bad location?

Almost made 5 years and now have a recurrence

I really thought I was out of the woods, as in 3 months I will have reached the 5 year mark with no recurrence. So this has been pretty devastating news. There was a mix up (long, so I won’t go into it) and instead of my usual abdomen and chest CT scan, I only got the chest part, and didn’t get the ...

Re: Anemia -- how have you dealt with it?

It was severe anemia that led to my diagnosis (It got so I could hardly walk a few feet without getting winded), so I was given a couple of blood transfusions at the ER, which helped a lot. On my family doctor's orders, I also started to take iron tablets. After surgery, I had a bleed at the incisio...

Wow, just wonderful news - that's what I like to hear. Sounds like the chemo and the liver resection, really delivered a knock out punch to those damn cancer cells. Congrats!

Re: Questions regarding Folfox treatments

It doesn't appear that you are experiencing any major effects from the oxi so far, but you have only had 3 sessions. It seems like it's the fingers and feet that are the main concern. My onc told me that if the tingling/numbness in the fingers/feet didn't resolve by the time the next chemo session c...

Re: Quick intro -- diagnosed Friday

Port installation was a breeze - they give you twilight sedation, so you don't feel any pain. It was a bit sore while healing, and I sleep on that side, but with some pillow readjustment was ok. I felt having a port was the best thing ever - I would put some Emla cream on it (with a little saran wra...

Re: Quick intro -- diagnosed Friday

Hi Zack: Regarding Isolated tumour cells. I had the same thing, and couldn't figure out why I was still classified as having only 2 nodes affected, when I had these others floating around. Didn't these count? Anyway, I researched this, and I'm showing my findings below. Long and short is, that they ...

Re: Scared Son, dad maybe has IIIC? Can anyone help me understand this pathology?

I had a similar diagnosis, with cancer of the cecum, involving the valve. My pathology report showed an inflammatory reaction on the serosal surface raising the possibiity of a peritoneal breach. However as there were no tumour cells found at the surface, they staged it at T3 (if it had breached the...
