Re: Cancer and coffe????

Don't think there are any impediments.
The Clinic where I receive treatment has several coffee stand on every floor- even in the infusion sections.

Re: HELP! suspended treatment (nephrology)

Unfortunately, Oxaliplatin is one of the least nephrotoxic chemo agent for CRC. I looked into this when I had renal issues caused by Avastin.
Perhaps you should ask your Oncologist.

Anyone who experienced pre-sacral tumor or surgery?

I have an inactive mass in my abdomen, right next to the anastomosis (sutures) of the colectomy I had over six years ago. PET/CT scan every three months confirmed the inactivity and the stability of the mass (no changes in size). Some radiologists read it as adhesions, following surgery. Others read...

Re: Things I should know about Avastin

Avastin is an angiogenesis inhibitor- it simply means that it impedes the formation of blood vessels to the tumor. In other words, it is NOT chemotherapy. I was on Avastin for almost 4 and half years, --luckily- with no side effects. What I did have was constant urine check. Also, you can not have a...

Re: Radioactive Sugar Uptake -PET

The Standard Uptake Value (SUV) is kind of a complex topic. Assuming you had your scan at the same place and there were no other physical changes (your weight, etc) a lower uptake value is definitely a good sign. Nonetheless, I would suggest you discuss it with your Radiologist. (FYI: there are no u...

Re: NED maybe. Stage 4, after 10 years Free. FOLFIRi?

according to "universal" wisdom, the effectiveness of Foilfox and Folfiri are just about the same.
Unfortunately - even after long searches--I could not find any comparative studies.

Re: Coping at work while on rectal cancer treatments

please do keep in mind that individual responses vary greatly, so whatever I went trough is pretty much meaningless for you. (Though a positive frame of mind does help a lot!) My surgery was a laparoscopic sigmoid resection. Ten days after surgery had a follow=up visit with the surgeon. He found eve...

Re: Folfox v. Folfiri?

Both chemo regimens seem to have the same effectiveness for treating metastatic CRC.
As far as I could make it out, there are no direct comparisons of the two treatments. I guess most of us will meet both treatments in the c ourse of
our disease.

Re: 3C Recently Diagnosed - need support

All I can tell you: forget the statistics. Statistics apply for large numbers. You are ONE human being, If you read carefully the available (good) information, you will see that nobody has a clue how a person's disease will behave. When you start your treatments, nobody has a clue on how the disease...

Re: How long on Xeloda?

Hello again:
forgot to add:
If you search carefully on the Web, there are some clinical trials (unfortunately not very many) on maintenance chemo with Xeloda.

Re: How long on Xeloda?

my case is different- but I will try to give an idea of my Xeloda treatment. A met showed up at the beginning of 2015, two and a half years after surgery, which was NOT followed by chemo. Had 8 3-weekly sessions of Folfox with Avastin- great result: NED ; immediately followed with the same routine, ...

Unfortunately (?) we can not escape both: the scope shows the inside of the colon; the scan shows the outside.

Re: A reaction to what?

My regimen started with prep (anti-emetics)- then Oxaliplatin and Avastin - it went so-so/
Then we switched the sequenceadministering Avastin, leaving Oxaiplatin last - and it went much better.
Maybe this might help

Look at it this way: exclude cancer or the very very low risk of some side effect?
