Re: Questions, questions, too many questions.

My liver surgeon told me "you'd be surprised how many people never get surgery when it is possible". Unfortunately I find this both unsurprising and borderline criminal. If the one thing I can achieve throughout this process is that every newly-diagnosed patient with liver mets gets an ea...

Re: Questions, questions, too many questions.

I agree with robster, With my situation had it been up to my oncologist I would never of had surgery, At my second scan he told me " I know the surgeon told you surgery was possible but it's not going to happen, We'll put you on maintenance chemo after folfox". It was a different story wit...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

For what it's worth, although my situation is different my two scans before surgery showed the tumors shrunk, the first scan showed 40% the second showed only 30%. Although the scan still showed tumor, pathology after resection showed they were dead. You mentioned having a good response in the begin...

Re: Thoughts on attending a funeral?

I just want to throw out there you are definitely not being a wimp, very far from it actually. Just do what you really WANT to do. Maybe even just make an appearance and skip out early, nothing wrong with that everyone will understand.

Re: No more personal updates from me

mpbser you seem to have an awful lot of conflict with other people posting here, and now you say it is also happening on other sites. Hard to believe it's everyone else and not you. Maybe take a hard look at yourself, the "Golden rule" might be a good start.

Re: Liver pain

Have you tried Pepto ? It's more likely the pain is coming from your stomach. After my liver surgery I was having terrible pain, I thought for sure something was wrong, ended up just being over active stomach acid. Hope that's all it is

Re: FDA helping cancer patients

I'm sure this won't help now, especially on a wide scale. But you never know, It could be helpful gaining access alot quicker to the next big breakthrough, and maybe that could speed the trial process along also.

Re: Laid off before Dx

This could have gotten political really quick, I thought about doing it but thankfully I didn’t. As far as money goes, what about a life insurance living benefit? Anyone approach their doctor about it? One of my policies require the doctor to sign that you have 9 months or so left, it’s something I...

Re: Laid off before Dx

My life insurance policy has a critical illness and terminal illness rider. I was able to collect a portion for the critical illness, and the policy continues only the payout amount is then lowered by the amount i pulled out. It was quick and easy, had a check in two weeks

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

A few years back BC (before cancer) I had terrible back pain in that same spot. Thought for sure I had a disc problem, X-ray showed everything was fine. I ended up stretching and thats all it needed. It must have been a tight muscle or something. I was amazed the pain went away almost instantly that...

Re: Please help - Diagnosed yesterday and confused

The surgeon will most likely refer you to an oncologist. It's important that the surgeon is board certified. But the best move right now is get to a major nci designated cancer center. You can do a web search or search this forum, there is a list posted here somewhere, sorry I don't know the topic. ...

Re: Scared

A stent can be used as a palliative measure, maybe call his doctor and ask about it? Try calling his surgeon also. I'm sorry he is going through this but it sounds like he is being well taken care of by the nurses. Wishing you the best

Re: Scared

Has the doc mentioned trying a stent to relieve the blockage? Have you tried a second opinion?
