CAT Scan Question

Does anyone know what a part glass nodule is? My mom just had one pop up on her most recent scan. I'll attach the findings below. Her oncologist doesn't seem concerned, but of course I am. She was sick and getting over an infection prior to her scan, but still. Anyone have any insight on this? Thank...

Re: Stage 3 to 4

Are you sure that you're stage 4 and they're just not benign "things"? Nodules on the lung and liver are both pretty common and don't always indicate cancer. Usually they follow the nodules for a while before doing anything invasive.

Can benign lung nodules shrink?

Mom had an initial scan that showed non suspicious Lung nodules. 6 months later they rescanned and shrunk, but the thing is this scan was 3 months into Folfox. Are they Mets because they shrunk? Or can benign lung nodules shrink? She’s had pneumonia and bronchitis many times in her life. She has mul...

Rectal Cancer Lung Nodule follow up (FREAKING OUT)

So my mom had some lung nodules on her first scan, so they did a recheck 6 months later (after 3 FOLFOX treatments). The thing is they shrunk. Now I’m freaking out, did they shrink from the chemo because they’re Mets??? Did they shrink because she was getting over an infection or for some other reas...

Rectal cancer recurrence rates?

My mother had pStage3b Rectal cancer, but got restaged to Stage 1 after surgery. Her treatment history is below in my signature. What I'm looking for is the recurrence rates of rectal cancer, as now I'm starting to think about it even though I shouldn't. Thanks!

Mom skipped a cycle of chemo, nervous (stage 3 rectal cancer)

Hey all, My mother is 4 cycles into her folfox regimen and she got a cold. Her onc decided to cancel her chemo this cycle until the next one because of the possibility of worsening infection and I'm wondering is this a bad thing? Will this effect anything if she skips a cycle? Does skipping a cycle ...

Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

Figured I'd give an update. Mom had her 6 month follow up scan and her nodules all either disappeared or shrunk! Wow! Follow up scan in 6-12 months. :D

Rectal Cancer, Folfox, and side effects

My mom is on the mop up FOLFOX regimen for her rectal cancer and she just completed her 3rd cycle out of 8 (woohoo!) and she has begun to get a raspy voice. Is this a normal side effect? She has lung nodules that they deemed non suspicious and they're just keeping an eye on them but its freaking me ...

Re: Moms Rectal Cancer Surgery Pathology

Overall, the result looks good to me. I'll give you my impression, but my view is the view of a layman, not a specialist. The pathology report gives information on two main areas: (1) how well the previous chemo/radiation sessions went, and (2) how well the surgery itself went. The report shows tha...

Moms Rectal Cancer Surgery Pathology

Hello, My mother had her LAR surgery last week for her rectal cancer. The doctor was absolutely esctatic with how the surgery went and said it couldn’t have gone better. Her original staging was T3 N0/1, some lymph nodes looked enlarged on her MRI but they couldn’t tell if it was cancer or just enla...

All Lung Nodule Experiences

Hello, I wanted to see how many people have had lung nodules found on scans before. My mother was diagnosed with stage 2/3 rectal cancer and her docs found some lung nodules but said they're not suspicious, but of course I still worry 24/7. For context, she was a smoker for 35 years before quitting ...

Re: Stage 2/3 Rectal Cancer Scan Question/Results

Hello Mike, I had similar concerns - could the cancer spread in-between chemo/radiation therapy and surgery or after surgery but before adjuvant chemotherapy. I talked it over with my oncologist and he said that he could order scans but that it could potentially delay the surgery if something were ...
