Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I am sorry to read that, I hope it can be operated and forgotten. It is really annoying to not be finished yet, but it doesn’t need to be a long delay to NEDville.

A big hug

Re: Newly diagnosed rectum cancer

Sorry for the diagnosis, and welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed one year ago, 45 year old and two kids (7 and 10). One step at time and thinking about how I want my kids to remember me if these were to be my last months, one year has passed and I am cancer free, at least at macroscopic level. Goo...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

It took four weeks for me as well to close the wound and I did not have problems with control from the start, although frequency was higher than normal. Maybe not having adjuvant chemo made the healing easier. My tumor was 5 cm from anal verge. Now I am hiking in the Alps (Dolomiti) and have no prob...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy

You cannot just replace estrogen in women. You have to consider progesterone and testosterone as well. My ovaries and uterus were removed during LAR, so I don’t need progesterone. Some hormones are also produced by the fatty tissue and surrenal glands. I am curious about checking my hormon levels. ...

Re: VATS lung resection

Happy to hear about your speedy recovery! My VATS is due next week. Same size of the nodule...I didn't do a biopsy though... Did your doctor say you need or need not to do adjuvent chemo? I only did the neoadjuvant. For rectal cancer they don’t recommend it here in Norway if you had clear margins. ...

Re: T3cN2a, refusing chemotherapy?

I am in Norway, stage IV with one lung metastasis, I did not refuse adjuvant chemo, but was not offered it either. So it depends on the protocol and there is no consensus on how useful it is.

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hi! I have also started taking estrogen 4 weeks ago, it is a trade-off, iatrogen menopause is linked to so many negative effects that I decided to take a very slow dose (1 mg) even if it is “promoting growth” according to someone.

Re: VATS lung resection

Hi! The surgeon said they would start as VATS and see if they can avoid open surgery, they can also do a lobectomy as VATS but for a small lesion they should not remove a lot of tissue.

Good luck with your surgery!

Re: PERMANENT COLOSTOMY/VS RESTRUCTURE

I have had a colostomy for some months and it was easy to adjust. Of course it is also nice now after reversal, but I had radiation and several surgeries which can be quite hard to go through. And there is no guarantee that you will have a good life quality after reversal. So in your case I would go...

Good luck with the reversal! I hope this surgery goes much smoothier than the previous one.

Re: Salami

From what I understand about modern health science, the two basic variables are genetics v. environment. Environment is an all-encompassing term for the macro environs, inputs such as water and air pollution, radiation, etc., and micro environs, inputs such as diet (with sub category of microbiome)...
