Re: New on the forum

Finally I got to talk to the surgeon and my last CAT scan showed no changes, still one solitary metastasis in one lung, 11 mm in diameter (was 10 mm last time). :)

Re: New on the forum

Does anyone here know what a “non-circumferential” Timor means? My husband’s report mentions he has a 6 cm mass about 10-11 cm from the anal verge. Is non-circumferential good, bad or neither? I am not a doctor, but I think it is a good think that is not growing all around the rectum wall. Circumfe...

Re: What would you do??

I think it is very difficult to answer, I live in Norway, I am stage IV and I am not even getting mop up chemo after surgery. It is impossible to know if we are overtreating or undertreating, only time will show. And even in the case of reoccurrence it is not sure that more chemo would have helped. ...

Re: New on the forum

The scan must be okay of they wouldn't have scheduled surgery, no news is good news? I remember the lupine in Norway were so lovely. Susan Yes, I hope you are right, at least that would be true for the lung surgery, but maybe not for the ileostomy reversal. At least I live better with no news than ...

Re: Not sure how to feel right now

Rectal cancers that have spread to other parts of the body are often harder to treat and tend to have a poorer outlook. Metastatic, or stage IV rectal cancers, have a 5-year relative survival rate of about 12%. Still, there are often many treatment options available for people with this stage of ca...

Re: Rectal Cancer-Blocked and Painful

If the tumor is blocking the passage, I would be very careful and only eat liquid food. With radiation the tumor can shrink, but also get edematous and swallen. I was not careful enough and ended up with at emergency colostomy after the end of radiation therapy. All fibers where just packing against...

Re: New on the forum

Hi! I am still waiting the results of CAT scan of whole body, today I got fed up and called several numbers, but nobody can tell me whether the situation is stable or not. I had the scan on the 7th of Maj  But at least they scheduled my reversal for the 4th of June, I guess they will tell me s...

Re: Starting FolFox tomorrow

I hope you get through the new round with Folfox with minimal side effects. As I understood, the bag is an advantage during chemo, but someone with more experience will for sure answer you.

All the best and wish you stay NED forever :D

You have done already a lot to make it easier for them. Is there really anything you can try to prolonge your life?

I am sorry to read that, on the other side is good that you feel well and strong, and you can join trials. The most important thing, I am realizing, is not the cat scan result but how you feel. I did one one week ago and still waiting for the results...big hug!

Re: Just diagnosed and it's EVERYWHERE...what to do now??

I am at a loss for words adequate for what you are going through. My only comment/recommendation would be to use a multi-disciplinary practice/institution whose various experts (oncologist, radiologists, surgeons, nutritiinist, counselor, social worker, etc.) can work together closely and in a time...

Re: New on the forum

This evening I had a complete CAT scan, three months since my last PET scan, so I guess they are evaluating both the pelvis for reversal and the lung metastasis. On Saturday I ran a staffette in Oslo with 15 laps and my team won in the class superveteran women  It was quite cool to be in a ...
