Hello, I'm almost 4 months post-op from removal of my sigmoid colon. I had a cancerous polyp and the surgeon removed about 16" of the colon. Surgery went well, pain was manageable and hopefully all the cancerous tissue was taken with the removed colon. My issue is that I'm still fighting again...
During my stay they gave me vancomycin. Then I did a full dose of flagyll after discharged. I feel like it hasn’t returned. Doesn’t feel the same as that. Because I also fight constipation the dr doesn’t think it’s that. Tonight I thought I’d have some homemade chicken n dumplings. Not good. Was fin...
Hello All! Questions about eating! As I'm still dropping weight and having a hard time getting going on adding foods. If it was up to my colon I'd stick to the low fiber no meat diet. But that's just not ideal for nutrition. It's been 12 weeks since I had Sigmoid Colectomy + Low Anterior resection f...
I called as I had some bleeding. I didn’t realize I needed to stay on Motrin not just for pain but for swelling. So doing that now. And no one said anything about taking miralax and Colace, started that as well. Then will see dr next week. If I have more bleeding, I have to go in, straight away.
Thank you. Today the abdominal binder I ordered arrived, seems to help some.Feel a bit better moving around. I’m only taking Motrin now. It was Motrin n Tylenol in hospital after spinal wore off. Thinking I’ll go ahead and go back to taking both. Will have to call about the bothersome other issue th...
Family tells me to relax and not to worry. But none of them have been through this. Y’all tell me to, I’ll listen. :D Surgery was just 8 days ago. 12 inches of colon removed, small section of upper rectal. I have the 5 robotic scars and then the vertical perineal, or c section cut, some call it. Tha...
Thank you. It was a relief, as I had feared it may be worse. Now go just recover from surgery. When I meet with oncologist, I’ll ask about some genetic testing. I’m 41, and would like to know for my family.
Same thing they told me, Tarheelmom. I told them and they just shrugged, said no biggie. And started it on my IV in presurgery. Surgery went well. 12inches of colon removed a wait for biopsy. But surgeon felt it was good and caught in time. No size known of tumor. Family didn’t ask or recall him tel...
What you think happened, happened. There was no saving them. No pharmacy open 24/7 where I live in sticks. Showing up and we’ll see. I’m hoping they’ll just give me more via IV when I arrive.
My colon resection is tomorrow morning. I'm doing the prep now. This is my 4th prep and this time I'm nauseated for some reason. So when I went to take my final dose of antibiotics, the 4 horse pills. It got my gag reflex and there they went. How bad is that? I figured I'd just tell them upon my arr...
I'm in the same boat. Resection scheduled for 11/7 followed by 12 weeks with ileostomy. I'm having so much anxiety about the surgery, really scared about embarassing ostomy accidents and worried about the reversal surgery too. Does EVERYONE have accidents with their ileostomy? Is the reversal reall...
Thank you. Yes google is scary and I’m just reading things here at this point. I was happy to find a hospital packing list as a refresher on what to bring. I’ll see if I can get report. Thank you so much. I’ll re~read the stickies.
Yes CAT scan and CEA were done and both looked good they said. The surgeon is a board-certified colon/rectal surgeon. I hate to say this but I at first thought it was just in the sigmoid but when he explained surgery he said it was spread down in that lower anterior as well. So that means rectal as ...
Hello! Well I’m a quickly learning all sorts of things thanks to the posts and stories shared. Very helpful as I mentally prepare for my resection surgery coming up in a few weeks. I, like many, had some stuff going on that I tried to ignore. Brought it up to my obgyn and she told me to give it time...
