Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Such good news! I have been bummed over your last posts and stayed away from the site a bit since i have my first 6 month scans next week. Heading back from Saudi Arabia tomorrow and have a PET/CT scan on Wednesday, follow- up with my Oncologist on Thursday, and a one-year follow-up Colonoscopy on F...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Teacher, None of this is ever easy. Waking up every day before diagnosis was always easy. I cannot speak for everyone, but my days always come with a reminder even if i forget a little or chose to look elsewhere. I am living your same fears, NED or not. My hopes and prayers are with you and your fam...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

We are all here to help! You have friends you have never known and I am one of them! I suggest lap, less invasive, quicker recovery. You need that to stay focused, healthy, and not succumb to some complication going the more invasive route. As for the pump, I suggest going easy on the liver...3 year...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

teacher, when you are feeling your lowest, look up 'bomberbob' and his posts...poignant to say the least. as for me, today i almost drowned on a dive, almost. i would like to say God gave me a metaphor on my cancer and survivorship. so today, i was diving the Manassir wreck in Muscat, Oman. 100ft do...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

teacher, any updates? you are definitely in our prayers. i am in the process of scheduling my first 6 month check up for mid september. had to come to oman for a few days of diving to get my own head straight. you know, all of this had made me realize that i am not as invincible as i always thought....

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I am in your exact same shoes. Mine is probably cancer and I'll have to have it surgically removed. I know it feels like you can't catch a break, but you don't know for sure if it's cancer yet, and it's better to know now than later. It's frustrating, right, since we just ended treatment recently. ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I have my 6 months set of scan and checkup upcoming in mid September. could be every 3 or 6 months for the first 3 years, but my onc thought it overkill for 3 and went with 6. i am certainly with you on the pains and seeing this or that, but hypersensitivity is what i end up concluding everytime. he...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I had to stop the Oxaliplatin after the 3rd round. My doctor suggested 3 out of 8 was better than none (obviously), but that the addition of Ox is only recent to the protocol and improved outcomes by 3-4% overall. so in my case, he was concerned more over the long term side effects of continuing Ox ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

hey, teacher! i have worried about all of the same things...from all of my readings and talking to the doctor, could be several issues. one could be your resection site. takes several months for it to properly heal and chemo exacerbates this process. could be the chemo itself and the havov it wreaks...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

hang in there! my oncologist took me off the oxaliplatin. cancelled all of my remaining treatments. with 3 cycles in, he said it was enough given the toxicity and that it was not worth risking long term side effects. he then said it was really a plus for me and not necessary....so why give it to me?...
