Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Such good news! I have been bummed over your last posts and stayed away from the site a bit since i have my first 6 month scans next week. Heading back from Saudi Arabia tomorrow and have a PET/CT scan on Wednesday, follow- up with my Oncologist on Thursday, and a one-year follow-up Colonoscopy on ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Update- resection complete. Surgeon said it was uneventful. It went exactly as planned. They did an internal liver ultrasound d and it was clean. No idea what pathology will say or how they determine chemo. I can control exercise, diet, and attitude. That’s about it. Stage 4 sucks and there are tons...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

Ok resection done! I’m still here! I was sent home after a day. I was walking and eating on my own so they said I could recoup at home. Completely laproscopically and the surgeon said all looked clear via the internal ultrasound. I plan on being very careful and really taking care of myself. I agree...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

You have my deep sympathies. Hang in there and remain hopeful. I had a 1 cm liver met, which was diagnosed immediately after colon cx diagnosis. After 6 FOLFOX treatments, the liver met was completely obliterated! The surgeon could not find it at surgery (open procedure) so he removed the entire lo...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

When will I know if I’m NED? From a cat scan after surgery? Will someone actually say those words? I think I’d burst into tears if I heard it. Thank you all for your help here. I will keep you posted.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I have another thread that I posted this on. So I pasted and copied - FINALLY spoke to Dr. Z at MSK. She said that the pump was an extreme thing and would need to be checked/filled by her every two weeks. A commitment. She said that she thought it wasn’t necessary at this time and it could always be...

Hi all- FINALLY spoke to Dr. Z at MSK. She said that the pump was an extreme thing and would need to be checked/filled by her every two weeks. A commitment. She said that she thought it wasn’t necessary at this time and it could always be revisited. She asked if the surgeon pushed it. I said he did ...

Re: The things people say to cancer patients

Think I’ll jump in with a few of my own: I’m so sick of everyone knowing my business. Every time I pick up my check stub, the elderly lady hands it to me and says “May God bless my soul.” I mean really? All this for a pay stub? I said. I’m so sick of people telling me how good I look. I reply “yeah ...

Re: Hello

My advice is to get her on here. And the other Facebook support groups. They are wonderful even for you. Chemo is ugly but necessary and it may really do it’s job. Tell her to start here. There are many success stories of stage 4 people to motivate her. And honestly, there are many that are worse of...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

So I did my pre survey visit with dr. jarnigan at MSK. He was very knowledgeable and comforting. I told him that I was leaning against the pump and not the open surgery. He was very nice and said it’s a personal decision and did not press me. The nurse said it was basically used for those who were i...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

We are all here to help! You have friends you have never known and I am one of them! I suggest lap, less invasive, quicker recovery. You need that to stay focused, healthy, and not succumb to some complication going the more invasive route. As for the pump, I suggest going easy on the liver...3 yea...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

Just wondering another thing: what’s the issue with them only using their own patients for the study? Is it because it wasn’t randomized? No idea really. But as for the cut, if you are getting the pump , it’s a full blown open surgery. Be aware of that plus months of recuperation. I don’t know if i...
