Re: Internal Iliac Node involvement??

Hi Punky44, I was like your Mom and had a distant node. Very often when it's just 1-3 they can obliterate it with the chemo and radiation! I had one distant node as well and that's what happened. I had 4 rounds of Folfox up front, then 25 rounds of radiation, then 5 more rounds of Folfox. By the tim...

Re: Robino1 has left us today at 6:40pm.

I never had the opportunity to chat with Robin on here, but I saw her name many, many times offering support and encouragement to the other members on here. I was so sad to hear of her passing and my condolences and prayers go out to her family during a sad, difficult time.

Re: Newly diagnosed rectum cancer

Hi rtcasper, I'm sorry to read you're having a rough time with your radiation. The short course is a higher dose as I understand it...I had a co-worker who was treated for prostate cancer with the shorter course radiation and he went through the facial flushing and upset stomach that you're mentioni...

Re: Scan Results 15 months post surgery. NDED vs NED?

Well it looks like your CEA is on a downward trend now, so I'm hopeful you'll see even more than your hoped for .1 decrease next time and you can get that port out! That was some interesting information too about inflammation - thank you! I have my next CT scan and CEA test at the end of October and...

Re: Scan Results 15 months post surgery. NDED vs NED?

Congrats to you on yourCEA decrease benben... that must be a big relief for you! Mine was up in the 6 range during chemo and it was back down to 2 with my first ct scan after treatment. My anxiety level waiting for results was through the roof as I understand it is for all of us through this whole p...

Hi Mike, I'm very sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. I'm just a week ahead of you post-op for the reversal and I know how frustrating the frequency issues can be, especially when you're trying to get out of the house! I've been taking a really good probiotic every night: "Bio-K"...

Re: Newly diagnosed rectum cancer

That's very good news there's no spread and it's higher up than you originally thought! It's great to see an update from you and am glad you'll keep us posted as you get into treatment. You're in my thoughts and prayers too!

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike, et al- I've not been following what you have tried post-reversal, so apologizes if this is redundant/you have gone this route already. Have you tried bulking up the stool with metamucil (and also starting on immodium)? For me, the first two weeks were rough and horrible- loose stools, constan...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Hi Mike, I'm glad to hear you're seeing improvement and your control is getting much better! That must be a relief, overall. I'm 3 weeks post-op now and find my daily routine is still all over the place, but know it goes with the territory. I'm back at work as well. I have days where I go 5-6 times ...

Re: So they said it was a hemorrhoid...

Thank you so much DarknessEmbraced and rtcasper! I'll watch for updates from you rtcasper and hope you have your treatment plan of action soon! I understand completely the "tired of thinking about it" part! It'll all be behind you soon enough and the only plan of action left will be someth...

Re: So they said it was...

I just thought I would update my progress here - one full year later! I just finished my treatments in May and had my reversal surgery on July 26th. My treatment started with 4 rounds of Folfox up front, to help with a "rogue node" that was off to the side in my pelvis. After that, I went ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Throughout my own treatment journey, I was surprised at how many people had stories of friends and family members who had colorectal cancer and also had a lung or liver met and went on to full recovery. I've read quite a few stories on here as well...people finishing up treatment and having to going...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I don't like that about FaceBook or the internet in general. You look something up and two minutes later there's an ad trying to sell you the same thing you were researching. Hmmm. Colon Talk does have a wealth of information with its own members. That's a good idea to maybe have a separate forum fo...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I have a few friends who haven't joined for the same reason. It's understandable. I joined way back in 2007 and mostly just have family/extended family and a few close friends. That's unfortunate they do that - especially with new people wanting to join for the support groups.
