Biopsies always taken during colonoscopy? (Post cancer)

Hey all, due to the lovely Covid 19 we couldn’t go in with my Mam when she went for her colonoscopy yesterday. We’re normally there afterwards and get to hear the update from the consultant first hand. She’s 3+ years NED from stage 3c colon cancer. We didn’t get to hear what the consultant had to sa...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Hi Basil, I know what you mean. My Mam is the same, she doesn't really think about it until scan time, and then of course you get that normal anxiety and apprehension.

Good luck for July! My Mam will have a colonoscopy in September and then probably won't have another scan until the end of the year.

Yes, fingers crossed they keep on the downward trend. We had our first "0 new deaths" today in Ireland since March 21st. A great milestone to pass. I hope it stays that way. Our new cases are much lower too and we are gradually opening up more.

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Hi all, I just wanted to give an update on my Mam as I know I found it very helpful to see those in the same category as her doing well. She was Stage IIIc. She will be 3 years NED from Monday (her surgery day!). It was her birthday last weekend and she turned 73. She was diagnosed at 69 and turned ...

Re: 10 Years Today!

That's great to read Amy and it will help reassure so many. I wish you continued great health.

Can I ask a question in relation to the HAI pump? Was it delivering chemo all that time or was it left there for a while as a "just in case" scenario?

Re: Stage 3c NED

Hey all, thanks for your replies. @Stu, absolutely do. We were shocked at how low my Mam's Vitamin D was when it was first taken. I've read so many articles on Vitamin D and links to cancer now that I am fully sure it is an important part of the puzzle. It's such an easy number to know by a simple b...

Stage 3c NED

I also posted this on the "For Stage III's: NED for how long now?" thread but I thought I'd post it as a separate thread too so it doesn't get lost. I just wanted to post on here as this forum was invaluable to me when my Mam was diagnosed in April 2017. As most people probably do here, I...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

I just wanted to post on here as this forum was invaluable to me when my Mam was diagnosed in April 2017. As most people probably do here, I read everything. Here are her stats: Dx: 4th May 17 Age diagnosed: 69 (71 now) Stage: T4/N2/M0 (Stage IIIc) 5/12 nodes positive. Right hemicolectomy surgery 26...
