Re: CEA rising after break

This was always the hardest part for me, the unknown what does every little test mean. My mom's CEA would fluctuate up and down a little and when there was no real change, but the times there were growth or spreading we saw large jumps in her numbers. Everybody is different in how much CEA is even a...

Re: Any Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis people out there?

My mother was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the same time as her rectal cancer. It was her first colonoscopy, so unknown how long she had it. She was 68 at the time. We have a strong family history of autoimmune diseases and she had already been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis so it wasn'...

Re: oxaliplatin

I've known 3 people IRL who had oxaliplatin, and while I don't know the actual dosage all three had to have their dose reduced because of either fatigue or severe neuropathy.

Re: Liver question

My mother never had symptoms of the cancer in her liver until the very end when she had serious clotting issues. But even with most of her liver cancerous she didn't have pain or jaundice and most of her liver levels were in, or close to, normal range. Her doctors were shocked that she wasn't in pai...

Re: Post Surgery Help and CEA

My mom's CEA would go up and down slightly, but it was more an overall picture the Onco was worried about. Since CEA was a good indicator for my mother he wanted to see big jumps or dips to better determine what might be going on. Her health portal would graph test results and it was easy to see whe...

My Mom’s Journey is Over

I have not been the most active member of this community, but you all have been invaluable to me during the past year. You are all so strong and brave and I’ve learned so much that has helped me navigate my mother’s illness. I hope to stick around a bit to help in anyway that my limited knowledge of...

Re: Son is ill and I am scared

I'm sorry you are going through this. It's hard enough when it's yourself but to see your child suffer is awful, so never feel bad about talking about it. I haven't been around long but I know the members of this community are an amazing support system. I am glad he is getting a colonoscopy. I am al...
