Re: Stage 4 Hope

Give your mum a big hug for me!! I don't know how old was she when she was diagnosed and the details of her journey but everytime I read your signature I find hope! Everytime I get told when people met to somewhere else outside of liver, prognosis dims a lot ... i would get so frustrated.... Then I ...

Re: lung nodules

I can only tell you about the experiences of my family, and those may not be relevant to your situation. My father and I both have lung nodules: his are from environmentally-induced lung cancer, mine are from colon cancer. I realize that lung cancer is a different disease but there may still be som...

Re: Finally....some really great news!!!

I just heard from the oncologist's assistant who informed me that an order had been put in for an MRI AND Chest CT. This is news to me. When I spoke with the scheduler to schedule the November MRI, I had no idea. Only an MRI has been scheduled. This is soooo frustrating! My one lung nodule of 8mm l...

Re: Cancer Again: Not Colon?

How the heck can it be determined if lung tumors are from the original colon adenocarcinoma or independent lung cancer? This mystifies me. My husband smokes cigars so who the heck knows if he wasn't going to get/got lung cancer anyway regardless of the colon->liver cancer he has/had? I wish I under...

Re: [Update: Lung met confirmed] PET scan not good :(. Anybody's surgeon was able to find a 8mm lung nodule via VATS?

I had mine out at Mass General via VATS. Then I did 12 rounds of Folfox. PET in July was clear. I have another PET in October. I wanted it out! Some Dr's like to keep it in, experiment with different chemos and do more scans. Not for me, I was adamant to have it taken out first. I am glad I did. I ...

Mine is being done by robot procedure hopfully lives up to its reputation Mine was VATs, it was so easy compared to liver resection. Am now debating whether to go with adjuvant chemo again. I was all ok if I needed to do chemo, but when the topic of "better save chemo option as much as possibl...

Re: The things people say to cancer patients

I love this thread!!!! LOVE! So I have these two classic things people said to me when I was first diagnosed. 1. (Upon knowing I have cancer after asking how are you? and that I eat a lot of green, athletic, don't drink or smoke and no family history) "Oh wow bummer, I am a crazy drinker, I eat...

Re: Any Stage 4 long term survivors/cured ?

I have been clear for over 6 years now. My oncologist and surgeon say I don't need any more scans, just annual CEA monitoring. I was stage 4 with 6 mets to my liver. I don't think I will be comfortable with the term "cured" until I hit 10 years. Your story is so encouraging ... 6 Mets to ...

Thanks for everybody's messages. I have just completed VATS and Path result said it's colon met :? . Clear margin, low grade.

Looks like chemo is due end of the month. I'm not too discouraged yet as the side effect hasn't kicked in...

Hope to be over soon!!!!

Re: The end of chemo

Congrats to your son!!! My Dr told me usually at least 1 year after treatment completion he will consider removing the port. But if I really want it out asap he could do it too. I'm 7mth after treatment completion and I went from hating the port to feeling ok with it. Now the Dr just found out I hav...
