Omg isn't that the truth. The longest winter ever. Sunny here in Michigan today too and suppose to be 55 degrees. Hopefully we can get some warmer weather to stay. Brighter days make us feel much better.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Sounds like having my ileo reversed 5 weeks after my resection because of surgery necessary to remove scar tissue causing a bowel blockage might have not been so bad. I don't know, I did have alot of diarrhea until the week off during chemo though, so maybe bag changing still would've been a better ...

Re: Not sure how to feel right now

It is scary. When you are going through treatment you feel you are actively doing something. I am 2 years out of treatment, and still get nervous especially as I get closer to my follow up appointments. I have one in May with my oncologist and she will order a scan at that time. I have graduated to ...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I was stage 2A rectal cancer, diagnosed May, 2015. Did the radiation/chemo, had surgery, and Xelox after. After completing chemo/radiation, my surgeon did a sigmoidoscopy and said all that was left was scar tissue. Also a pet scan showed no evidence of disease. Surgeon said may not need chemo after ...

Re: New Diagnosis/Overwhelmed

When the GI told me he discovered what he thought was cancer during my colonoscopy, he had already scheduled an appointment the next day with a colorectal surgeon. When I saw the surgeon, after examining me he ordered the ct scan for 2 days later on Sunday and the endoscopic ultrasound Monday. He al...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

I understand. I have my 6 month check with my oncologist in May. Will have my CEA drawn, and I'm sure she'll schedule a scan. Starting to think about it, since I just got back from a 3 week vacation and this is my next event coming up. I hate feeling so anxious. Not so bad right now, but I'm sure it...

Re: Chemo opitions

My oncologist said the same. Six months total chemotherapy including preadjuvant therapy. I did 6 rounds of Xelox. Xeloda plus oxaliplatin. I had no problem taking the pills, and preferred the convenience. I also had the same staging as you. Can be so confusing I know.

Re: New Member here on the forum

I did capox with no port. Did six rounds and really had no problems. If it was more often than every 3 weeks I may have opted for the port. Good Luck.

Re: Why no statistics on stage two and Xeloda

I was stage 2a rectal cancer which is a little different. But my oncologist said even tho chance of recurrence was low wouldn't want to wonder what if I did have a recurrence and didn't do chemo. She could not guarantee cancer cells didn't get into the bloodstream.

Re: New on the forum

I had a good response to neoadjuvant therapy, only scar tissue remained. Pet scan before surgery showed no evidence of disease. However, after surgery the pathology report did show minimal residual cancer cells. Even though my margins were clear and no 0/24 lymph nodes, my oncologist recommended che...
