Re: 2 year scan

I so get the anxiety. I just had mine in April and it was clear. I'll be 4 years cancer free in September. I wonder if the anxiety ever ends.

Re: Mop up chemo - Port vs non-port for Oxi?

I did six rounds of Xelox without a port. I also didn't want another procedure. After my resection 4 weeks later was in the hospital with a bowel blockage and had to have surgery to remove scar tissue and also had my ileo reversed at the same time. I was in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks so I asked my...

Re: Positive Cologuard testing?

This is how my cancer was found. I had seen blood a couple times on my stool but not often. I was sure it was my hemorrhoids. My doctor gave me the test and it was positive. The sample I made sure the sample I sent in did not have any visible blood. I had a clean colonoscopy 5 years before. I was im...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I had an obstruction on Friday night and threw up several times with a lot of output. Throwing up does provide pressure relief but then it builds back up. It does look like the stomach emptied out and that's good because it's not pleasant when there is too much in the small intestine. I was ready t...

Re: Did anyone ever decide to go back to ileostomy after reversal

I know you mentioned it before and is sounds intimidating. There are days I am perfectly well and have maybe 1 bowel movement in the morning and 1 at night what I call blow outs. Sometimes I have one a day, then there are the days when I have multiple and it is really annoying as it hampers your li...

Re: Did anyone ever decide to go back to ileostomy after reversal

I do daily tap water enemas. It is very simple to do and takes about 30-45 minutes in the morning. It empties my lower bowel and allows me 24 hours of bathroom free until I do again the next morning. It takes a little time and patience to become proficient and develop a routine. There are many other...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

The result this morning wasn't expected - total cleanout but it took two hours. It was rather soupy so not a very good result. There are multiple schools of thought in the LARS forum - diet, fiber, enemas, fiber + Imodium, fasting (found someone else that fasts a few days a week and otherwise eats ...

I have seen this. Last time I used suprep which is less than go lytely, but tasted awful. I think I have heard that the clenpiq is much easier to handle.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike, I wonder if you spoke with your surgeon again about trying enemas now that you are coming up on a year out from reversal. I have been using them everyday for 2 years with very good success. It's only a few cups of tap water, takes about 30-40 minutes and I'm good for the day. It has allowed me...

Re: Neuropathy improvement: individual experience

I'm 3 years out from chemo. Still have neuropathy on the bottom of my feet. Tingly and weird feeling especially barefoot. It doesn't prevent me from doing anything but is annoying. I think I have just gotten used to it, since it really doesn't prevent me from doing anything. My hands are okay, I use...

Re: Reversals Any positives?

Thanks Susie My surgeon nurse mentioned water enemas in the event I'd need them and she would talk me through it, but I'll wait and see because I'm only 5 weeks out,,,,, Why not fleet enemas ( quicker turnaround??? NO?) The chemicals in a fleet enema if used continually is not good for the colon as...
