Re: Surgery Completed

I had a lot of staples including in the belly button area. I am such a baby about those things! I was due to have the staples removed the week that my surgeon was on vacation and I would have had to wait an extra week. My daughter is an ICU nurse and has removed staples before. She spoke with the su...

Re: Chemotherapy Journey

My life saver was room-tempearture Pellegrino.......especially when I wanted water (water began to taste bad) Hot tea, hot coffee, broth, soup, stew...anything that would keep my throat from closing. Hang in there !! I second the idea of sparkling water. LaCroix sparkling flavored waters at room te...

Re: Second cycle today with stomach issues

Everything you are experiencing is normal. I had constipation for 3-5 days after every oxi infusion. My oncologist suggested a stool softener (not a laxative!) and it worked wonders. I started taking them the morning of my treatment and continued for the 3-5 days. I also got the diarrhea after the s...

Re: Stage IIA: Chemo or not?

I'm curious as to why your oncologist did not give you the option of 3 months of chemotherapy. It's my understanding this has become the new protocol for Stage III colon cancer so I don't know why this wouldn't be true for Stage II.

Re: ASCO study on shorter chemo for stage3's

Capox and Xelox are the same treatment. I always called it Xelox but oncologist calls it Capox. Anyway, Yes, I did the Oxi yesterday and also started the Xeloda yesterday (14 days of pills and then 3rd week of nothing before starting over again). One Oxi done, 3 to go! woohoo! not too bad so far. So...

Re: Starting Treatment soon-have some ?

I appreciate all the feedback. I'm going to try and go in with a positive attitude. Hopefully I can manage that. I've cleared my schedule from Wednesday until Monday so I can rest in case it's needed. I hate not knowing how I'm going to react. I've always tried to avoid strong drugs-even avoided the...

Re: Starting Treatment soon-have some ?

Update-I had the port put in this past Thursday. That actually was a bigger deal than I thought it was going to be. Glad it's in and everything looks good (although very bruised). I start my first round of Xelox on Wednesday. Praying for minimum side effects. Does the cold sensitivity (ice water, fr...

Re: Starting Treatment soon-have some ?

Thank you for the responses. I wonder if Folfox symptoms timeframe is the same as Xelox. I was hoping for 2 Blah days right after IV and then feeling better after that. My goal is to go in on Tuesdays. I'm thinking I may find that out tomorrow. Still no call from the hospital as to when I can schedu...

Starting Treatment soon-have some ?

Hi Everyone. I have been reading valuable information on here for about a month but this is my first post. I found out Monday that I am going to be receiving 3 months adjuvant chemo starting sometime this month. I am diagnosed as IIIa (or b) with a complete tumor resection but 3/32 lymph nodes posit...
