Re: Call on Congress 2018 -- Registration open

I heard back from Phuong and unfortunately she is not planning on attending this year. She is doing well but had surgery recently and will need some follow up treatment. She said that she didn't want to take a spot that someone else could use. It was great to connect with her especially since she us...

Re: New on the forum

Claudia, You are a warrior! 12,000 steps is amazing, I am getting in 5-6K in addition to working out with a trainer twice a week at the gym. Always best to follow your dr's advice but they may have no idea how active you are. A lot of people turn into couch potatoes after surgery but I vowed to keep...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

For those with a chest port, what's the chest port like, roughly where is it located and how careful do you have to be with it? Also, I understand that the needle used for infusions is rather large. Is this needle plugged into the port for the infusion? Also, how large is the needle? Hi Mike, I hav...

Re: New on the forum

Thanks a lot Shana. I am home now and the main problem is to understand how much I can do and I should not do / rest. The recovery has been really quick and I went home on Monday without any painkiller, just anticoagulant injections, which I have to do till the next surgery in February. The managem...

Re: New on the forum

From medical dictionary: Curative cancer surgery demands special considerations. There is a danger of spreading or seeding the cancer during the process of removing it. Presuming the cancer cells can grow almost anywhere in the body to which they spread, the surgeon must not "spill" cells...

Re: Next Scan--Next Week--Makes me crazy!

Hello Colon Friends; I had my follow up appointment and currently show NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! My CEA was 1.2 and all the other bloodwork was normal. My CT scan was clear. Because I had noticed some blood in my stool, I also had a colonoscopy slightly ahead of schedule. It was also completely norma...

Re: One year today since colonoscopy

Congratulations on completing your treatment!

It's been a year for me since DX too but still ongoing so I know how consuming it is while you're undergoing surgery and chemo.

Best of luck to you, enjoy the holidays, you have definitely earned it!
