Re: Hello

Hi..just introducing myself. I don't have cancer, but my wife does. She was diagnosed with rectal cancer in June of 2017. Initially they said she was stage 3, and slated her for a colostomy to remove the cancer. When she went in for surgery, opened her up, and promptly aborted the surgery. The had ...

Immunotherapy and cannabis?

I came across an interesting research paper in PubMed about the potential interaction of cannabinoids on the immune system (see: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid) here: http://ar.iiarjournals.org/content/28/6A/3743.long Reading this made me wonder about how cannabis might modulate the bod...

Re: Keytruda? What else is new?

Fatigue is the most persistent. It started out as just standard fatigue, but has since progressed to what can only be described as narcoleptic. The last two weeks I have seen a large increase in bleeding during loose bowel movements, which have become frequent enough to keep me from sleeping. I was...

I've also read that chemo can spread cancer in a recent article - it doesn't spread it itself but the mechanism may make it more likely to spread. hey, Mike, could you please give me the link of the article you read that says chemo can spread the cancer. My mom is very unlucky and her cancer had be...

Re: new. . trying to decide between xeloda? (sp) with iv chemo and modified folfax

I did the 48-hour IV 5-FU infusion as part of FOLFOX so I will give you my experience with that. It was annoying to sleep with and carry around for two days but overall it was manageable. The biggest side effect my care team blamed 5-FU for was an odd discoloration of any bruise or scar I had. For e...

Re: Lynch Syndrome

OP: You have no idea how blessed you are. Please get tested. If you are Lynch positive, you can prevent the cancer from ever developing from a polyp through routine colonoscopies.

Not sure I can do better than this definition:

"Cancer that is neither decreasing nor increasing in extent or severity."

Is that the Firefox logo near where your port is? Yup. I did some performance work for Mozilla back in the 2005-2009 timeframe and they invited me to the Mozilla 2008 Summit and sent me a bunch of T-Shirts. I wear these to the office because they are XL and cover the bag. My regular Nike Dri-Fits a...

I asked my wife how she kept my water warm enough to drink. She kept some unrefridgerated, and if it was a particularly cold would quickly heat it up in the microwave quickly.

Looking great Mike!

I am a big fan of infusion selfies myself. It freaks Facebook out with my positive and joking attitude about it, which makes it all totally worth it. :D

Re: HUGE amounts of Watery Leakage 24 yrs old. SC

Mucus is naturally clear but it takes on the impurities that come into contact with it. So the colors you see are likely explained away by that. You may not want to know the colors I have seen, hehe. My advice is to go get a colonoscopy as soon as possible. Is there any way we can help you...

Just got the throat-closing feeling. This is where your throat feels like it is closing but it actually isn't. I can breathe just fine. I went to take a nap and the cold sensitivity is back more strongly. I suspect that this is due to sleeping under warm blankets. I also had this, but not so early ...

Re: MRI ALERT. FDA

I think we can, at some point, start to ask for fewer scans. I just had an MRU of my pelvic area when I had a cystoscopy about 3 months ago. My CEA was 5.8 this time and so my onc ordered MRI of pelvic and abdomen. Sounds like one test, but it ended up being 2 tests w/o and 2 tests w/ g. All were f...
