Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I like to use a picture as the amount of time it can take for me to get into a pose varies all over the place and I find it hard to do things in time to a video. I'd probably have trouble with a class as well. But it feels good after doing it.

Re: Here for my Mom

I use this chart: https://cancerstaging.org/references-tools/quickreferences/Documents/ColonMedium.pdf and it has T4a and T4b. It looks like she'd be IIIb if T4a and IIIc if T4b. The main treatments are FOLFOX or CAPOX (sometimes written XELOX). Both use 5FU and Oxaliplatin. Folfox may have somethin...

Re: New member seeking support

Thanks again to everyone for the encouragement! I had surgery (LAR right hemicolectomy) on 4/4/18. All of the news since then has been good. One of 25 lymph nodes had cancer in it. My tumor, which was large (9.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm) had invaded 5 of the 6 layers of the colon wall, but did not get throug...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Jealous - love living out in the sticks but it's an hour in any direction to the nearest yoga studio .... maybe I should just bite the bullet and make the drive .... I just do these in the office or at home - I've never been to a class before. I just need a picture of a pose and then work on doing ...

Re: O/T My Mom - Cancer Again

I chat with Stage 4s and some of the situations seem dire to the point that I don't have words for it. I have a friend that had cancer decades ago and they treated her with a chemo that's known to cause MS in the future and she has MS now - I think that multiple bouts of cancer is just plain unfair ...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

Your son sounds like me though a lot younger. My treatment chemo + radiation, surgery and then Xeloda+Oxaliplatin for six months. I have another two months to go and the chemo makes me feel pretty crappy. But I'm working five+ days a week as well with a lot of other responsibilities. I would guess t...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Doing better today than yesterday so things are getting better. I felt good enough to run today but did Yoga and other floor stuff today. It's going to be in the 60s tomorrow so I'll give tomorrow a shot for running. This is normal stuff; things get better about 9 or 10 days after infusion and then ...

They're doing great things at NCI with this and I wish the best for you with this trial.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Feeling better again compared to yesterday - improvement accelerates off the Oxaliplatin which is great when it happens. On another note: Between 2005 and 2015, ad spending by U.S. cancer centers soared from $54 million to $173 million. In 2016 alone, Anderson’s seven rotating TV spots were viewed a...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Sounds like having my ileo reversed 5 weeks after my resection because of surgery necessary to remove scar tissue causing a bowel blockage might have not been so bad. I don't know, I did have alot of diarrhea until the week off during chemo though, so maybe bag changing still would've been a better...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Prior to chemo, overnight was enough time but not now. I do a gentle massage, pushing on my belly to more things along. Mashed potatoes make things solidify for me. It just be very frustrating to take such a chunk out of your day. Thanks for med info. Still on 1500 daily, start with 600 more daily ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike, So sorry about your hands. I struggled for the first five days post Oxi but I am only on 2nd round of chemo this time. I have been told six months total. I did got credit for 7 weeks before so doing 5 rounds post op with both Oxi and Xeloda. What is your current routine, seems like you are do...

90 minutes to change the bag this morning - very frustrating. Previous two times were 10 minutes each. I blame the Oxaliplatin. It should be better next week.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Participated in a race for the cure thing at the office today - but it was for diabetes. Generally feeling crappy but the worst of it is over and I should be improving in all areas except for hands and fee which will continue to worsen. I've been supporting other causes too, feels good to give. How...
