Re: Tinnitus

I did six Folfox cycles with no hearing problems. However, a few months after round 6, I developed tinnitus. It's continued over a year now- could be due to listening to music with earbuds for a long time and aging, but I suspect the Oxaliplatin. My oncologist indicates its the chemo.

Re: FOLFOX failed

Thanks again... no one's given me anything to look forward to so nice to hear some success stories here :) I am in KCMO, unfortunately KU Med and Shawnee Mission Hospital (part of MD Anderson) are out of Network, partially because of the MO/KS thing...! Crap, that stinks about KU Med.. I would be t...

Re: FOLFOX failed

Thanks for the input. How does getting a second opinion at a major cancer center work when you are out of network? I'm willing to travel; I've paid for all my treatment myself and my family's offered to help with money. Really, I'm not so upset... I'm not in pain. Mostly just kinda sick to death of...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I largish poop this morning and then a medium one later on. This means that more is coming out at one time which means that my time in the bathroom and the requisite cleaning is decreasing. I also got six hours of uninterrupted sleep last night (seven hours total sleep). I have not had this amount ...

Re: Enemas to manage LARS

The LARS group on facebook is pretty awesome.. also a rectal cancer group via colontown there. I'd recommend both, even with all the facebook privacy issues.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Hi Mike, I'm glad to hear you're seeing improvement and your control is getting much better! That must be a relief, overall. I'm 3 weeks post-op now and find my daily routine is still all over the place, but know it goes with the territory. I'm back at work as well. I have days where I go 5-6 times...

Re: I declined Oxaliplatin

According to everything I've read, Oxaliplatin DOES improve results in patients with dMMR, including those with Lynch and suspected Lynch. Here's one example: https://watermark.silverchair.com/djv438.pdf?token=AQECAHi208BE49Ooan9kkhW_Ercy7Dm3ZL_9Cf3qfKAc485ysgAAAaQwggGgBgkqhkiG9w0BBwagggGRMIIBjQIBA...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

My reversal was about a month after chemo ended. It had nothing to do with the timing of the scans, but rather waiting for my blood counts to go up. I'm not sure why your oncologist thinks you have to wait to have a scan before having the reversal. What does your surgeon say? My oncologist told me ...

. . . I'm disappointed as I'm rather in a hurry to get rid of the bag and port. This would put surgery somewhere around October. . . I can understand the stoma, butt are they going to take both the bag and the port out at the same time? This was a long time ago (14 yrs ago), butt i had to wait 2 yr...

Re: Two Precancerous polyps at age 28

I went for my first colonoscopy last week because my father had a villous adenoma at age 31, which he needed surgery to remove. So he told me to go now, as I am in that age range he anticipated. My father's mother died of colon cancer in her 50's with that same villous adenoma, as did my father's a...

Re: Newbie here: gallbladder or recurrence? Anyone know if gallbladder issues are common after folofox?

I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary of diagnosis. (Stage 3, CC 2 nodes positive) I have always struggled with anxiety- specifically about getting cancer, (Oh the irony). Now that I’ve had cancer, and finished treatment, I’m becoming crippled with fear of recurrence. I have strange twinges of pai...

Re: Tubular Adenoma Polyp found during colonoscopy - 27 years old

I definitely appreciate all of the replies and reassurances. I've consulted with my gastro/surgeon's office and we are considering the possibility of testing for Lynch Syndrome since they agreed, 27 years old is pretty young to be having these issues (I think it helps that I was assigned to a docto...

Re: 31 year old male, 1.5 cm tubular adenoma

Hi Everyone, I have been lurking on this site since June of 2017 when my body presented worrying symptoms, mainly blood in stool. At the time I was a father to a wonderful 2 year old boy with another baby (gender unknown at the time) on the way. I figured rather than take the risk I would make an a...

Re: Reversal surgery

My reversal surgery is done! My surgical site is very sore, but otherwise no pain. I had pain all over my abdomen when I woke up, but they gave me pain meds. My surgery lasted less than 90 minutes. I’m very comfortable in my hospital bed. I’m right next to the bathroom which is good, and my roommat...
