Hurry up already

If this cancer is going to kill me I sometimes wish it would just hurry up and do it.

I also think maybe I should talk to a therapist.

Scan results

I had a CT/PET scan on May 25th and recently recieved the results and an incomplete copy of the radiology report. The good news is that I have no new tumors in my abdominal area. The three spots that were there in my left lung in the upper lobe are still there and have grown. The plan as of a few mo...

Re: I stand up to use the word cure(d)....

I would love to say that I am cured. My onc has said that because all of my mets have been resectable that I can still be cured, though if it happens it will be a ways off yet. That brings me to my question. How does one know when one is cured? With recurrances coming several months or years after b...

Mets to epididymis/testis?

Has anyone ever heard of colorectal cancer metastasizing to a man's epididymis or testis? I have been having some pain in my right testis for the past few weeks. I'd had pain there before and had mentioned it to the PA back then. He said it was probably just epididymitis. This time though I have not...

Re: A Question of Faith

I have questioned my faith for a very long time, but it wasn't until I was faced with my own death and the thought of what comes after death that I really thought that deeply about the existance of an immortal soul. I do not think that I would want to live for eternity even if it is heaven. Right no...

A Question of Faith

Since my diagnosis of colon cancer I have struggled with my faith. I just finished writing about it and had intended to post it to my caringbridge journal. I talked to my mom about it and she has me reconsidering that. She is concerned that it will unnecessarily make my kids distraught. I feel like ...

Re: Neulasta - can your offer input?

I have been getting the Neulasta shots on disconnect days. The nurses all tell me to take Claritin to help prevent the bone pain. As Ladybug said, no one seems to know why it helps. I do sometimes do get some bone pain in my thoracic spine and sacrum, but it is tolerable. I don't know if it would be...

"It's OK; I'm at peace with my lot in life, and I hope you can find a way to accept what is, in the final analysis, a natural event. We're all gonna die sooner or later (me, probably sooner)--let's make the best of the time we have left and try not to live in fear or grieve too much when it's ...

Re: Lurkers and Guests

It's been a while since I've posted. I usually find that when I have any sort of answer to anyone's questions, that one or more people have already addressed it, so I say nothing. I also do not want to start a thread simply to complain about what's going on with me. I know it's probably good to vent...

Re: Any suggestions on meds for bone pain due to mets/radiat

I have no idea how this would work on bone pain from radiation, but Claritin works well for bone pain caused by Neulasta. The bone pain is from two very different causes, so who knows if it would even come close to working? I figure it's at least worth a try.

Very well done! For the record, if you sounded at all then as you do in this thread, then I would not say that your emotions got the best of you. It sounds like you were under control and really did make it a teaching moment. I would tell whoever her supervisor is about it. If she has been saying in...

Re: Good News - Bad News

D'oh!

I just got a call from the surgery scheduler at Stanford. Apparently my surgeon is having some sort of family issue that needs his attention. My surgery was rescheduled to October 3rd. Now we need to reschedule all of our our hotel reservations.

Life happens.
